Part 7: The Founding of Cove

As time passed, the population grew and Britain became increasingly urbanized. Some chose to remain on the frontier as long as possible. Among these were Sir Sy and Galen Le'earth who traveled to Cove with a Royal Charter. The outpost was nearly abandoned, but with the support of the Queen and the guilds, new life was breathed into it. Others were attracted to the area and made their homes; Magus built a house on the hill, and Novus Just constructed his tavern outside the fortress walls. For a time, the outpost prospered in peace.

The Cove Orcs did not welcome these new humans. The outpost was designed to keep watch over the orcs, but the pitiful garrison had managed to do little besides teach the orcs they needed new tactics. In secret, mages and clerics were trained, new weapons were forged, and explosive potions were brewed. The orc's god of war, Un'dee, had declared that the time would soon come to cleanse the world of the humans.
