can we have a page with player submitted pics? <--wishful thinking*

probably not but then can we at least have the picture on the home page changed every month or something?

Randell, I think, setup something like this a while ago via Yahoo Groups. It was used for a while, but slowly stopped being used. A lot like the IRC channel.

If anyone would want to submit a picture to put on the front page, I certainly wouldn't mind. I can never seem to find a decent picture for the front page, which is why it goes unchanged for so long. If you have a good picture, please, send it to be (drocket@drocket.net) and I'll see about putting it up (though, of course, I can't make any promises.)

My general list of things that I think make a good picture:
1) Try to keep the gump clutter off the screen. If you send in a picture of a bunch of spell icons, the .online list, your .status window, the journal, 5 open backpacks, and an open druid bag, we'll never be able to figure out what the picture is supposed to be.
2) Try to get some other people in the picture with you. I know you love your dragon, but it'll be more interesting if other people are actually in the picture too
3) Action pictures are good
4) I know it'll be hard, but try to get everyone to stop .grabbing for a second. A screen full of *yoink* *yoink* *yoink* *yoink* *yoink* *yoink* *yoink* isn't too interesting to look at. This also helps avoid the 'huge pile of naked bodies' problem.

I actually have a picture for this week, though :)

*is very proud of her admins*
I think it'd be nice to have pics from people on momentous occasions. Wynne (the character - hehe) just became Renowned the other day, and I really wish I had snapped a shot of me, Azzo, and Ki'Anna (wan't it Ki'Anna?) on that very moment

Here's the lesson...take shots all the time. You never know when something will turn out to be important. :santa:

That must be why I almost always carry my digital camera with me when I go somewhere. :)

I've found that UOSU does a nice job.

what does it do that Windows's screen capture doesn't?

You can set the location for the screenshots to be dumped.

You can set what image format you want the screenshots to be.

You can choose how to automatically name then.

You can grab the entire screen or the active window, your preference.

Everything can be controlled by a hot key or two, depending how you set it up.

I have mine setup so the PrintScreen button grabs the entire screen, automatically creates JPGs at my screen resolution and puts them in a folder numbered sequentially with a "woduo" prefix.

Yeah, I used to just use Windows built in screen cap but then I'd have to dump what was in the buffer into photoshop or paint or whatever and THEN save it. Now, I just hit printscreen and forget about it. Only takes a second or so to do the job so you can take repetitive frames of an action that might be going on.

Plus you don't have to have UO running to use it. I've already used to it make a screenshot for a webpage I've been tinkering with. Thanx SO much, Bayn. I want to be just like you when I grow up ;) :santa:
