Wyspr rides slowly through the forest as the sun sinks beyond the farthest hills. The deep woods hold thick shadows and night sounds being to echo softly. His druidic senses are attuned quietly to the stir of life and the creatures of the night feel his resonance of power and watch him secretly from cover. Wyspr rides to the top of a tall, bald topped hill and dismounts in the twilight. He breathes slowly and deeply, his eyes half closed, waiting.
A rustle of sound alerts him to the presence of another climbing the hill. He smiles gently as the slim, young woman strides softly towards him and stops, her clear eyes reflecting the early stars in the pale sky. "Are you ready to give yourself, my child?", he asks.
"Yes, I am finally ready." she responds affirmatively. It seems as if all her life was building to this one point, this culmination of study and meditation and discipline.
Wyspr nods and smiles, holding out a sturdy, gnarled staff and a small leather sack. "Take these then and treasure the heritage they represent. You have passed all the tests with fortitude and patience. Your mind and spirit are unsullied and quiet. You are worthy."
She receives the druid staff and bag of runes and smiles with a tranquil joy. Gazing up into the darkling sky she breathes out, "Thank you Mother and Father. I dedicate my life to you." Wyspr nods again and says, "Now, speak with me the Druid pledge." Together, the two speak the sacred words.
I am a Druid and I dedicate myself to realizing the spiritual energy of my inner self to help and to heal others. I know that I am part of the whole of nature. May I grow in understanding of the Unity of all. May I always walk in balance. May I always be mindful of the diversity of Nature as well as its Unity. May I use my druidic powers wisely and never use it for aggression or for malevolent purposes.
The stars above brighten as the light of day fades completely. True twilight reigns, the time of magic between day and night. A light breeze rustle the grasses of the hill and the hair of the adherents. Their steady, soft voices drift through the night forest with a curious clarity.
May I never use my energies to curtail the free will of others. May I always remember that I create my own reality and that I have the power within me to create positivity in my life. May I always take responsibility for my actions be they conscious or unconscious. May I always act in honorable ways, being honest with myself and others, keeping my word whenever I have given it, fulfilling all responsibilities and commitments I have undertaken to the best of my abilities. May I always remember that whatever is sent out returns magnified to the sender. May my inner light shine so strongly that malevolence can not even enter my realm of existence.
Creatures of evil tremble as the voices echo in their heads. Their voices are not raised but a vibrant, resonating timbre in the words cause leaves to quiver on the surrounding trees. Bears, deer, foxes and birds draw closer as a soft light begins to emanate around the pair.
May I continually grow in wisdom and understanding. May I see every problem that I face, as an opportunity to learn and grow and to develop spiritually. May I act out of love for other beings on this planet -- to other human, plants, animals, mineral, elementals, spirits or other entities. May I ever be mindful that the Mother and Father in all their forms dwell within me and that this divinity is reflected through my own Inner Self.
May I always channel love and light through my being. May my inner Spirit, rather than my Ego self, guide all my thoughts, feelings and actions. So Mote It Be.
From the earth, a golden green light rise to suffuse their radiant faces and from above the stars give their pale luminescence as a crown to their brows. No longer stand a druid and his acolyte. Two druids stand in power and quietude within the bosom of the Unity.
