You also may want to put some text in your application, when you reapply. We don't put the block there for our health, you know.

Everyone deserves a chance. Expect people I don't like, because for no specified reason, my opinion is better than everyone elses.

"Just kidding" ;)

No they don't.
We tried that once on WoD. Had open admissions, anybody could join. It was failure. It caused a ton of hassle for the admins and the players.

Not that you care about the trouble the volunteer admins go through.

They can just be replaced if they don't agree with your naming rules, right?

Yah, never mind the hours of time they spend on the shard. Never mind the many dollars they spend on the computer and the connection for it. (When we hosted WoD, Rykus went and bought a new computer just for the WoD. That goes beyond 'volunteers' that can be replaced because you don't agree with them.)

As for my posts being harsh, maybe you people just need to have a slightly tougher skin.

I'm not going to be guilted into liking something sub-standard just because it's free. If people who are volunteering all this 'money', 'time' and 'resources' aren't volunteering *effort*, then yes, I say we get rid of them and find other people who are willing to do so.

Crossing forum threads isn't the best way to deal with an issue, so how about we stick to the topic at hand.

Point the first:

Players invest just as much time and resources into playing the game, which I do remind you, would cease to exist without a player base. It is the requirement of the admin to make that experience enjoyable, just and fair.

Point the second:

I didn't ask for 'my' naming rules, in fact, far from it. My suggestion was to have one single, clear set of defined rules that one active body worked to enforce. Because the naming conventions are so broad and subjective, judging them becomes a problem. Many would say that this is not such a big deal: but for a fair and equitable WoD, one would hope that the rules are applied equally and justly to all WoDians, fairness for all.

Point the third:

dictionary.com wrote:Volunteer: A person who renders aid, performs a service, or assumes an obligation voluntarily.

No one "asks" the Admin to do what they do. They 'volunteer'. There is as much responsibility for them to do what they do as if they are being paid (not that there should be a difference, because in theory, a person assigned a task would hope to perform that task to the best of their ability.). When an admin joins up, it would be assumed that they have a clear understanding of what their role is and what they are expected to do.

Laephis, for example, always informs the shard when the server will be down as much as he is able to (acts of god notwithstanding), providing evidence thereof. This is a good thing, because the players know what is going on. Naming conventions however, are done invisibly, without justification other than "I don't think you can have that name" - and then it is only personal opinion.

There is certainly a lot to say on this topic, but I will abdicate here for the moment in the hopes that others will bring forth their opinions in a rational and justified manner: and for this I do not mean neccessarily to agree with me, but to at least maintain a sense of decorum that several disreputable posters of late, lack.

Players invest time into the game which is true enough but do not ever assume that the admins "owe" anyone in the game anything more than a certain amount of courtesy. WoD ls dependant on certain people parting with hard earned cash at regular intervals to continue to exist. The only way the admins would actually "owe" players is if the players were paying for their services which last i looked wasn't the case.
