I have to disagree, from a purely strategic point of view. The weaker "warriors" would typically be at the front of an offensive push or defensive front, followed by tougher and tougher "warriors" until you get to the "king" or Champion. Generally, Champions should have a VERY strong personal guard.

Having never seen one of these my self, and hearing that they can not be solo'd, I have to wonder if these things are clearly labeled

Ok I ran in and invis'd to one, this looks like the beginning level of the undead one. The altar is what really tells you it is in fact a champ spawn, but it's always in the dead centre of the spawn so but the time you see it you probably have a pretty good idea whats's going on.

Just for kicks I hurled myself at a vermin champ spawn solo a day or so after doing the one with a group, managed to get it to the very first bit of the 3rd level of spawn and just got overwhelmed, I couldn't do anything.

Yeah, I like the way they look in that pic, it really adds to UO, I also played esle where for a tad, mainly runUO shards, I must say that making the move to be fully "AOS like" would be a huge plus for us, perhaps it would expand our player base, which is a goal of drocket's, unless i'm mistaken.

We'll have to see what can be done with POL, there are alot of things that make WOD great, autoheal for one, so lets not try to reinvent the wheel here, just improve things.

Nothing wrong with saying something "bad" about WoD. In fact, I really would encourage people to speak openly and honestly. However, it's all in how you phrase your complaints. Whiny, petty complaining usually gets interpreted as "bitching" and is by-and-large ignored. Constructive criticism, on the other hand, is helpful and appreciated.

I've been checking out a few other places to see what's up and I totally agree: lack of new content has been a weak point for us for a while now.

Whoa, easy there Laephis, I've played else where too, and I must say we do have some VERY stong points, .grab for one, autoheal for another, vampires is something i didn't see any where else, all the grave yards are the same else where, here each one is pretty nice in its own way.

The admins and player base here are just awesome too

Notice how he said lack of New content. Autoheal, .grab, and vampires have all been around for a very long time.

yes i was mearly saying we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water, we do have our strong points, mainly player base and admins, in other words, the people who make up the shard make it what it is.

Actually I don't think there is anything wrong with WoD itself. It's all about the emulator. Drocket has only so much to work with. POL has become outdated, it was once the best one out there as far of the stuff you could do with it.
There are actually two emulators that have surpassed POL in my opinion. RunUO and the soon to be released Psychotropic Hybrid.

There is Psychotropic Hybrid. I've been beta testing this software and I like it, plus the Devs are good guys.
It is written in C++ and will be able to run in windows or linux, they are even porting it to Macintosh. You can script in C++ or Python which is also a very powerful language. It doesn't have everything that EA/OSI has at the moment because they don't like AOS lol. But that can easily be added by anyone knowing C++ or Python I suppose. You can also change pretty much anything in this emu also. Everything that matters has been taken out of the core and is in the scripts. It is open sourced and will be released shortly.

Then there is RunUO. It supports everything EA/OSI has at the moment and everything in it works properly! But the community totally stinks (pure opinion) and it uses C# which means it'll only run on windows at the moment(and in the future most likely)not linux. And like true Microsoft mentality RunUO is closed source. You can change anything you want since the only things in the core are stuff like networking and things that don't need to be changed anyway really.

So in order for a shard developer to shine he/she needs something good to work with. Which I don't think POL is anymore. Everything that WoD has now can be scripted into both of these emulators.

WoD is a fairly old shard, everything would have to be written, I know Drocket is British, but I don't think he is insane enough to rewrite all the scripts, plus it is fair to say that everyone would have to start over.

There would seem to be no easy way to port the world as it is now over to another emu.
