Missing items from Secured Chest

Postby Purple on Wed Sep 01, 2004 9:00 pm

hello all, What a sad day it is to go to your wonderful virtual home & do some mining only to find those blessed enchanted shovels you worked so hard for are gone!!
I have two secured chest on the outside of my house
(which I now know is not a smart thing to do) that I believe were stolen from. (actually just one chest was missing things) I had a bag full of enchanted shovels including some Ruby Steel and Blue Steel, about 200 to 300 bars of gold, & lot of Obsidian missing from the chest. Granted my chest was unlocked.(which I didn't think to check before) and they were outside. But still if you know something is not yours why go through someone's chest on the patio of the house thats not yours??
Anyway Aislin Darknwald was very helpful to me checking the chest and door and recommending that I move anything inside. And I paged a GM and PM'd Daeric about the problem. I heard maybe tracing could be done since it was secured chest???
The moral of the story is even WOD is not safe sometimes...

I looked into the matter and located your missing items. They are now sitting in a red backpack in the lower right hand corner of your bankbox.
Thanks to Aislin for explaining to you that secure containers basically aren't :)
I'd like to remind everyone: if you happen upon an unlocked chest or building, that doesn't necessarily mean the items contained inside are free for the taking. If a container isn't clearly labled "free" either ask the owner or simply leave it alone. Stealing is against the rules on WoD and ignorance of the rules is no excuse or defense.

Well I'll be. I though it was just me but guess not. I had a few chest secured out side my house also. Then when I logged on one day. I noticed all my Ingots gone from Iron to Ruby.
I thought it could not be someone taken them but hmmm.
So I figured they just decayed or what not. Or an item count sweap took them. I guess I could be wrong. I have moved my chest's inside and started recollecting my ingots.
Good thing I had my colored shovels inside my house. :?

I had two or three colored shovels disappear after putting them into the bank. A week or so later, I couldn't find them anywhere. After learning that maps decay, I just assumed that the shovels did too. /shrug

I never dreamed that anyone would take anything. I really cant understand how someone would think it would be ok to go to someone elses house and take things.

Im just glad you got your stuff back, Purple.
