Hail and well met!
I was hunting in the Yew area when I received a magical message from Sondra. It appears she had some slight difficulties in the 3rd level of Covetous and was desiring a companion. She said Jasper was there as well. It sounded like another excellent opportunity for an adventure with others!
I was finishing off a reaper when the msg arrived and had only been hunting a short time so I still had all my usual hunting supplies; bandages, potions, Tums, a paperback book, spare underwear for when I met one of those scary Titans and the other usual things.
In fact, I had met a Titan just a bit earlier and had vanquished it handily by keeping my distance and either absorbing its magical attacks or reflecting them until it ran of mana, then I moved in and pounded it slowly (took awhile, they are tough!) into a titanpuddle. Yay for me, I'm learning!
So, I whacked the Reaper into kindling and headed towards Covetous. Hmmm, 3rd level. That meant I had to get through the first three, if the map I had meant anything. I haven't been to Covetous yet, at least not too far in, so I cast my usual buff spells and entered the dank corridors.
A lizard warrior saw me entering their domain and threw a major hissyfit! I calmed him down with the end of my mace and continued. I was surprised at the quantity of scaled, hissing lizards but didnt' encounter too much difficulty. The main problem was the length of time it took to wade through all the bodies.
After the first level I ran along the outside path and cautiously entered the second and found it about the same as the first...just took time to get through. After THAT level I reached the marbled gates for level 3. I took time to re-buff and then entered that level. MUCH more difficult although the main problem was the quantity of overseers, defenders, and such. I had my most difficulty with a lizard warlock who nearly managed to kill me but somehow, I vanquished him.
I had entered the torture room and was going to clear it out as well but my grab bag was full. *sigh* I was probably pushing my luck anyway. So, I skipped it and some other room that I forget the name of.
I never did find Sondra and Jasper but I imagine they just got tired of waiting for me. It DID take a lot of time to battle through all those scaly lizzes. So, all in all, it was an enjoyable, reasonably low risk adventure (except for the warlock).
I will have to go there again sometime...too bad I forgot to take a blank rune with me, I could skip the first two levels and just go into the 3rd otherwise.
