However, to avoid shard wide panic, I bet Drocket could work up a script to tally peoples possessions, keep houses and non-magical special items such as quest items, then assign a gold value to everything else so that when we came back online no one would be totally bereft.

I've lived through a couple item wipes on a polshard a long time ago and it's not that bad. But they didn't keep any of those possessions that you proposed. Instead the players were reimbursed with gold based on the amount of hours you have played on your account, which sounds feasible.

Believe me you don't want to start up a shard wipe discussion.

Um, I and a lot of others still think that it is something to brag about.

My wife kicks the snot outta ancients all the time. She's a tank.

And we are back to the argument that the few that can do everything are vastly out-numbered by those that can't, therefore policy and changes should not be dictated by the former. But everyone knows my feelings on this so I shall not push it any further.

Raiden, I am happy for your wife. It is truly a feat to beat up Ancient Dragons left and right.

In the time since last june that I've been here I've beaten 2 ancients with 1 character, (one that became unplayable after the recent changes and has since been changed,) and 1 ancient with my main tank, Orion. That's it. It is still a feat to me and others like or less experienced than me.

That is cool. I got one since last August. I probably could have kicked the snot outta more (which is a scary thought considering that dragon snot is probably highly corrosive) but I am SCARED of the beggars! It sure doesn't bother me not to notch my mace handle with l'il ancientdragon symbols.

Shucks, even Titans tend to make me wet my drawers on occasion. That is why I carry a couple extra pairs of plate legs in my backpack.

I'd rather just take on the stuff that is a challenge but not an utter challenge. Shoot, the miniquests I enjoyed the most was the time that tons of lizardmen invaded Jhelom and the time that ettins and ogres invaded it.

That is just me though. I'd hate to have my ancient ticker quit on me due to over excitement.

That's me! I have a mage that is not as maxed with buffs as Eddy but he should be able to kick snot outta ancient dragons on a regular basis. Trouble is, I am a lousy mage which is odd because that is all I played on OSI shards. A swarm o' lizardmen could probably take out my mage!

I'm happiest being a dumb ole warrior and boosting warriors is a great idea in my book but if not, I'll muddle along.

T'anks for listening.

I don't know. I personally feel that there should be some creatures and areas that should not be able to be solo'd. Oh, and I don't quite understand why any character would be unplayable. By that logic, you are saying that any newbie character is unplayable. They don't have the strength, or the mana, or the skills up to where an established player has them. And before you go off and say that all you would be able to do is hunt "newbie" areas like the GY, let me say "bull". It just takes a little more time to learn the tactics needed with the changes that have been made. No, you may not be able to clear Wind in 45 minutes (just an example), but as I first stated, I think some creatures and areas should not be able to be solo'd.

The reason I said that Carlos was unplayable is that he was a so-called super tank. He sacrificed damage capability for high AR. When the changes came through he was actually getting less ar than Orion. So, unplayable for me means "no fun." It is the fact that Orion could heal better/faster, do more damage and had higher AR than Carlos ever could. They essentially had the same purpose but carlos could go to more places because of his higher AR and MR. (again Carlos has been drasticaly changed to a Chaos Guard)

Again, I'm not against a creature that can't be soloed. It gives the uber-experienced the chance to try and figure out a way to do it. Juat make it a new monster and put it somewhere where things usually don't spawn, like fire island.

Oh, silly me. I didn't realize that "no fun" equals "unplayable.

I guess I need a new definition of "fun".

die? letsa see i have only died a max of 9 times since i joined this shard and only cause of me being stupid or ina quest where someone else was stupid .

i can play with the changes as they are atm easy but i would have no fun playing due to the fact im not a total mage and do not have the equipment that you old ppl have after 3-5 yrs playing here ,so hence i do not have that kinda buff power.
but i guess you expect everone else to have your set up in buffs and ar .

Yep, I think mages, necros, druids and tanks should all have equal strength, int, dex, buffing powers, etc, etc. Just choose a character because ya like the title.

You know, I was really trying to be civil about this and have a nice conversation but again someone has to resort to sarcasm.

Would you PLAY a GAME with a character that you felt WASN'T ANY FUN? No, I don't think you would. You would play other characters. If I'm wrong than maybe you are some kind of person that enjoys a life of stress.

Ever since I said I was going to step back from posting on the boards I have tried, when I do post, to choose my words carefully, make decent points and try not to sound like I did before. Some people have seen that I'm trying. Others refuse to. They continue the whole "if it's not my opinion then it's wrong" crap and resort to sarcasm and personal attacks.

To the people that act civilized in these discussions and not like children: Thank you.
