I also have a heavy heart with the closing of WoD. I have not been an overly visible player in wod over the last couple of months but I have always quietly been here. In fact I am one of those who even as a player tends to keep quietly to myself, that is just my personality.

Over the last 3+ years I have greatly enjoyed my time here. In return I have tried to give back to the shard when I was allowed to. In addition to being a player here I have been honored to have been able to host the game server for a period, host & maintain the players manual & also act as a Seer (Tajina) when I could. (Sorry about the death bunnies :) )

I have watched as my children, and nieces & nephews played here and then invited many of thier friends in as well. All have enjoyed being here!

With the passing of WoD, I will greatly miss all those friends that I have met and spent time with, as well as those that I had not yet had a chance to meet.

I too will never forget what this shard has meant for me & my family. It truly has been a second home.

Thank You ALL!

I haven't heard this portion considered, but maybe if we all agreed to accept the supposed changes, the shard wouldn't die? We could get a concencus on who would agree with what... I can't see the harm, unless other problems are present.

I agree with Marius on this 100% He does not need to grow up, he makes a point.

You people remind me of the lady out of Misery who took the author captive and forced him to write more books. Deal with it.

From the shadows.......

Postby Uthr Rhain on Wed Sep 08, 2004 6:48 pm

I just got word of this and all I can say is that it is truly a sad event. Though I've not played in quite some time I will always have fond memories of my time in WoD.

Just remember, the dream never dies. That which made the shard our homes for when ever we were there lives in each of us. May your dreams never die.

Though it's been a while since I've stepped inside the WoD; it is sad news indeed.

I would like to say that those involved in the WoD over the years have done an outstanding job. The world that was created here will live on as a legacy; not only as the technical foundation for many other shards (like Ackadia, for example), but also in the hearts and memories of all the people who have been fortunate to call the WoD home.

My regards to all of the good-hearted players who will need to find a new home outside the boundaries of the WoD.

My regards to staff; past and present. I hope your future endevours bring as much joy to yourselves as your past endevours have brought to all of the people you have touched in your capacity at the WoD.

While I hate to think of the end... I hope the WoD goes out the same way it came in; with dignity and class.

To those of you whom I've had the pleasure to play with, or learn from... thanks for the memories.

I'm really upset to hear this. :( I know I haven't been on much lately, but that is just due to r/l concerns. I still have my account, and I planned to start playing more again as soon as I had a little extra time. I suppose I thought WoD would always be here for me.

After more than 2 years here, this place has truly been home to me. I will miss all of you so much. Thank-you Drocket, Siobhan, Seb, Laephis, Daeric (and all the admins/seers/staff) for making this place so special.

Thank-you to all the players who have rescued me, helped me, and befriended me - far, far too many to name. I admit, there are many new people here, that due to my recent time restrictions, I have not had the chance to know - but I can honestly say that of the people I do know, and have known here in the past, there hasn't been even one that I didn't like.

I will miss you all!

I know you guys don't know me (I'm Laephis' friend, who's DSL line is hosting the game server) but I am saddened to hear this. It is an ufortunate thing! Having gone through a similar thing though, remember that the friendships gained while playing on WoD may last longer than any game ever would.

GG to all!

Ending my time in WoD is like packing-up and leaving my home town. I have played and relaxed in this unique, comfortable world for quite a while, usually hunting solo, exploring remote places and woods, keeping Praetorians and Titans in their place. I was never alone, though, for whenever I was in need friends came to my aid. That comraderie and cooperation set WoD apart from other shards. For me, WoD will forever be the standard by which UO shards are judged.

The World of Dreams will be missed ... but not forgotten.

A sad day indeed

Postby Big Ed on Fri Sep 10, 2004 8:24 pm

Hi all.

Most of you probably don't know me but I remember WoD fondly. I've been in and out several times as various names. I was even a Seer at one time (does Shabooliville still exist? I built it for quest and begged Dundee not to delete it).

Anyway, just wanted to drop by and say how sad I am that WoD is going away. I originally came here from the OSI servers, thoroughly disgusted with UO and what it had become but found new hope and life in WoD. I have always felt I had a home on WoD, even when I had been gone for a long time.

Anyway, good luck to Drocket and all the others who kept the old girl up and running for so long. I'm sure you're experiences here will serve you in whatever you choose to do next.
