UOAM Server NOW Available to ALL Wod Players

Postby Aardwolf on Fri Feb 13, 2004 2:01 pm

For anyone that has not read the other thread inthe general forum, there is now a UOAM Link server available to the players of WoD.

If you do not have UOAM or are not using it, you should give it a try. It is a great piece of software, and generally a good deal of help in locating those pesky vendors or just moving around in WoD and of special help for both Oldbies & Newbies in any rescue situation. There is a link to it in the downloads page of the Player Manual.

If you don't know what the link feature is, UOAM has an option built in to it that will "Link up " multiple players and allow any player or group of players, to actually see on the map, where the others in the group are at any time they are on line. This is great for group hunting, quests, rescues, or just keeping track of your buddy.

There is a UOAM server setup now that will link any WoD Player or group of players. It is located on my webserver, so it should be available 24/7.

To use the link feature in your UOAM, you need to pull down the link menu in UOAM and select 'Link Controls'. Be on the 'Link' tab and then enter :

Your Player Name
Ip Address: 216.113.200.75
Port: 2000
Password: wodplayer

Check the box that says 'Remember IP & Password'

then click the 'Link to Server' button

You should now be linked to anyone else in Wod in the wodplayer group that is using the same feature in UOAM

The UOAm will hang onto the settings, but you will have to click on the 'Link to Server' button each time you restart UOAM.

The above password will be set as a common password for anyone playing on WoD and will allow that 'group' of players to see where each other is at any time (ie you can all can see each other).

If you feel a need to set up a group of players that are seperate from the rest of the WoD Players, (eg for a mini quest or a hunt of some kind), then that can easily be done as well as follows:

All players in one group on the UOAM server just need to use the same password to be able to see each other. So.... for your own group, each player would use exactly the same info as above BUT change to a different password. All players in the same group will need to enter the SAME password.

If there are any problems or anyone needs clarification or help, just contact me.

Okie-dokie, its stickified now, but I moved it to the General Shard Discussion board, since there's already another stickified UOAM thread there

Aardwolf ..
I'm assuming that if/when we swap characters we should go back into the link controls and change the character name , then re-click the 'link' ? To keep the map in synch with which character we're logged in as?

UOAM doesn't actually know what character you're logged on as, nor does it know what shard you're even logged on to. The only thing it does know is what the map looks like and your location on that map. You can have your name in UOAM anything you want without it affecting UO or vice versa. I'd trying using something every can identify you as.

Totally nifty! I just logged on to the wod server and it worked fine. How many people use this? I know I will from now on.

This is a seperate UOAM Server program put out by the guy that wrote the UOAM. You can connect any time, in a totally private group, on this same UOAM server if you read the instructions above. I would like to see more people use it than actually are at this time, but I am glad it is being used. In the last 48 hours, I have had a peak of 5 people using it at the same time.

Its use needs to be pointed out to all the newbies and oldbies out there. I know it is fantastic to use during a rescue.
