Gruedon is dead!

Postby Keelarr Ranar on Mon Jul 21, 2003 7:44 am

Well it took forever, but we managed to beat the dog down, the list of names that took part in this is as long as any, I could list em off but it was nearly half the shard. At times there were a few runners but on the whole, it was a well formed group and worked well together. It was a great fight, and the seer or seers responsible should be proud of the job they did, I know we are. You guys are awesome. Now line up more! lol! The end battle claimed many lives repeatedly, but victory was ours and we would not be denied. (they even let Azzo plague, he was sooo happy) My thanks to all who were part of this, and my gratitude to the seers and GM's who made the whole thing possible. This will be the last post for a while from my side of the Ranar clan, I bid you all farewell.

Keelarr
Where ya going? You arent leaving the shard, are you?The way you said goodbye I assume something is bothering you. You cant leave buddy......you and your family of Ranars have been a big part of WoD. If something is bothering you about the shard or another player can always be worked out.
If you are leaving because of something bad, I believe that I speak for the majority of the shard......we wish you would reconsider.
I hope you do anyway.

::as his head is slightly unhappy from the beer induced headache, the grizzled old warrior takes pen in hand:: I don't know how Gramps does it, but damned if I can drink like that anymore!! Fear not folks, I am commenting on the fact that I am hardly allowed out anymore since Azzo steals the show! I made Azzo an acount to post with of his own. Gramps complained enough till he got one, and Azzo followed suite. He will be posting instead of me. As for being bothered about things, I would like to say we REQUIRE!!! a standard form of loot split on quests. No question to it. But it is not enough to make me wanna leave the shard. I can honestly and selfishly say, I myself am right behind Roderick as far as missing Ciara. You guys aint gettin rid of me that easily lol. It does a heart good though to see people react that way, and I thank you. Tell ya what, the heck with Azzo's swelled head! He can post when I damn well let him hehe. (though right this moment my own head is slightly swollen form an alcohol induced swelling) ::walks away holding his head mubling about Grampa's hooch::

HEY KEEL!!! GOT A HEADACHE?? hehe
Aye twas great fun and Jazmin had to be para'ed a few times to keep her from runnin I can say we all had a fine time. At least the ummm how did he put it, oh yes "grizzled" lol did write up a decent explenation to the last couple nights invasion and invasion induced cleansing. We had a grand time showing them silly nubs a thing or two or three! If that is what the future holds for the poor folk of the Boolies, I could see why they would be pissed! hehe Our present is so much better than their future! Krieger and I at the end battle softened em up from our sweet spots and I plagued the poor bastards literealy to death! While the main force was decimating the G man himself we were providing firesupport from the side. All in all it was a well orchestrated attack. On a side note, while waiting for a necro tp plague, moving a few tiles away isn't quite enough hehehe. The folks involved on a whole were at their best when the fertelizer hit the rotary oscilator. So anyone else thinking of invading our fair world best think twice! the only thing waiting for you is a sour defeat and a short journey to the grave! (where a few less than moral souls are waiting with shovels in had)

Please forgive my anger but I need to post about this.Last nights loot split after the quest was the most appauling display of greed on a certain persons part that I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing and if this is what WoD has come to then I want no part of it.

First the splitter informs the group that you can have either gold or a magic, not both. Then he insults all the warriors who fought hard and paid the price for it,that you can only roll for an item that the char you used on the quest can use. This when all but one of the nice magics was mage-based,guess it was a good thing that the splitter was a mage.I guess the splitter forgot the importance off ALL that participate in a quest, seems he thinks his contribution in the quest was more important and more deserving of a reward than the tanks that participated.Well it's time all stopped to remember that mages need warriors to keep the mob off them,as much as warriors need mages to heal them and to cast spells.Neither one is more or less important than the other.

Well I'm done giving my two cents worth,be good to each other and take care.

All mage based (magery, invo, meditation, lore/necro ) buff items are really valuable for warrior type chars too. I cant see any reason why some warrior wouldnt be able to wear them.

This is a new one to me.

Then he insults all the warriors who fought hard and paid the price for it,that you can only roll for an item that the char you used on the quest can use.

This one there is some precedent for, I've been on a few quests where the split was done this way, though its fairly rare any more. It's my understanding that way back (mostly before my time here going on 2nd hand information) this was the normal way magics were handled during the split, that you could only roll for an item if you were spec'd in the skill, the exeption being for quest specials I beleive it was open roll on those.

This next bit sounds a bit like an attack on you Zareena, for which I apologise in advance, I don't intend it that way but just as a general comment on quests in general.

In my opinion the real reward for being on a quest is having participated in a piece of the shard's history, not in the trinkets handed out in the end.

Yeah that was how most rolls/splits were done back then. If the skill wasn't spec'ed you couldn't roll.

I've been in the WoD Family for all but 6 months of its existance and I will tell my experience in the loot splitting.
There usually is someone who wants to run things his/her way during the split. Most of the players know each other during quests and hunts. So then they all know how a certain player handles splits. If you know that they are have a not so good splitting personality......then elect someone else to do the split. I never actually was the splitter but have been involved with many. It was handled a ton better than it is nowadays. I know it can get frustrating, thats why I dont do too many quests anymore. I usually just hunt on my own. The only arguements that I have is with my henchies telling me that I am having a bad hair day.
But way back when......
The split was usually handled this way:
1-Whoever wants a share of the gold gets lined up along one wall and the splitter divides it evenly among those who want gold.
2-Rolling for magics.....this was done several ways. I'll tell you 2. The players who were involved(skillwise) rolls for the magic on display. According to their skills. If its a mace on display then the player rolling would either have macefighting as a primary or secondary, and so on with the other magics. The highest roller then gets the magic item and then steps to the side to let others roll on other magics. After everyone has received one magic and there are magics left over, you start over again with the remaining magics. This is one way.
The other way would be very similar. Except(and this would be with agreement with the majority of the questors)If a questor does not have the skills of the magic on display but one of his other characters does, then he/she can roll for it. And as usual, step to the side after you wil the item until everyone has won an item.
As for other things such as treasure maps, necro regs, etc.......I would say after all the magics are gone then the splitter asks if anyone wants them. If only one player wants them, then he/she gets it. If more than one, either split them(if there are a lot available) or let them roll for it. This way no one gets hurt and everything was done where everyone had an equal shot at getting the items they want.
I'm not one to do a whole lot of typing so if this looks all garbled and confusing, please feel free to ask what the (blank) am I talking about and I will gladly explain.
Ok......this was my 2 coppers worth....and don't knock me for any typos, I was in a hurry!! lol

lol I just went back and re-read my last post.....you all can knock me if you want for the typos. I'm doing that myself as I am typing this. And I know that there is spell check.....thats one thing I have never used while posting. LOL I have always been a good speller(won many spelling B's in my day). But it seems the older I get, the worse I spell
I hope I didn't offend anyone in my last post. The post wasn't written to offend anyone. Just trying to make things a little easier.
