But I want a Lyceaum!
Seriously though, it
is quite feasible to do it in a static or built house anywhere near the realm. In
practice, it comes out looking
artificial and tacky. Maybe, granted that I'll eat my words and end up in a tower in the middle of the Trinsic Swamp.
Another way to look at it is to be '
buying' the Lycaeum, just not with money. And before anyone gets the idea that they can
buy Castle Lissar with a song, I've invested a lot of time and effort to get this going, and plan to do a lot more.
There
are benefits of having a custom house, of course. I could place it where I want, let in who I want, and so on. But I don't think
half the people who start up WoD will have a
clue where Fellowship Hall is (I didn't) or even know that it even existed.
Granted that
yes, maybe that's because the caretaker left and it sort of faded from view. But everyone knows where Castle Lissar is, because it's just there. That's what I want the library to be. A legacy. This is something I'm putting the creative part of my soul into and hell, I want it to be grand!
I guess it upsets the sort of modicum of balance that exists to more conservative players, and that's perfectly fair. I mean,
I just started here, and I want to change the world? What the hell do I know?
But, you never know; you just might like it.
Give the idea a chance, see how you like it. If it's really terrible and a waste of space and time, I'll gladly have it taken away.
The
real thing is, I guess, that it's more than a library,
it's a place for a community to grow. I rarely see more than one soul if I leave Britain bank. In fact, I went to
Jhelom, where two people own static houses, and the streets are rife with lonely warriors who need strong leaders. (I found maybe 6 there).
The world needs to expand beyond Britain Bank. People need to meet in new places. If Mages and Priests (holy magic pending
) start hanging out in the library, and it can grow on it's own, then Moonglow is again a haven for wizards, and grows and develops.
Then, of course, while maintaining that, I can build something for the other classes. *I actually have an idea in the process for Britain, believe it or not!*
Still, this is the Lyceaum, soon to be a sanctuary for those who like libraries, or those of a scholaristic bent, in character or no.
Time for Moonglow to get a facelift, I say.
Even if it is piece by piece, or in this case, Lyceaum, by Leceaum. (I swear I spell that differently each time!)
Now, on to the other comment, about relics!
That's what I wanted to
buy out
Forseti's
house for, if he's inclined to sell it. Open a museum of sorts, for the lands ancient relics and history pieces of old.
They're currently on display at the Fellowship Hall.. (
Exactly.)
The relics would be great at the Lyceaum, but admittedly, that's a subject I'm a bit worried about touching. I don't want to give
too many people more reasons to
hate me! But in my opinion, the relics of the past would be great.
Maybe even open up some of the 'lesser-known' artifacts like "
Head of the Skeleton -
most killed creature in Britannia!" Or something.
Keep the ideas coming! That relic one is definately something to think about!
