Jake is gone

Postby Ephrudim on Sun Jan 11, 2004 12:11 am

I just went by Dirk/Mego's site and saw that he had to put his dog and companion, Jake, down.

I know many of you who have been on WoD a while will remember both Dirk and Jake, and how close they were. The many pictures that were posted of that Australian Cattle Dog brought smiles to WoD players a long time ago, and it seems to me that, in a way, Jake was a kind of mascot to WoD. Thus I think it is appropriate to inform all of you of these sad news.

This is so sad. I know I would be very hurt if our dog died. I think I'll go hug my dog too.

I am getting a new yellow lab puppy next month, and I am gonna name him Jake. Have fun chasing whatever you find up there Jake, you will always be remembered down here.

Thanks Ech for posting this. I wish we could locate that famous picture of Jake at the controls of WoD. It was priceless. RIP Jake

I think that one is still available on the old forums. I am going to look tomorrow. Would anyone be opposed or offended by a monument to Jake? Something like a statue or the like placed in brit, or perhaps a plaque?

perhaps having a permanent Jake dog roaming near the bank would be the most appropos "monument".

I like that idea, as long as it doesn't get killed by some young knucklehead assassin or necromancer...

Make it an OSI guard script, one hit kill, with something in the area of 1000000 str and dex. I think a plaque would be more dignified though.

Or an invul tag? I really like the idea of Jake running around in front of the Bank, barking at the crier and piddling on the guards' feet.

You'll be missed, Jake. Dirk, we're all saddened by your loss.
