Question about tamed critters...

Postby Celeste Kendreyl on Mon Mar 15, 2004 5:24 am

Just a simple question, really: I have several little wolf companions- if I train them by having them attack lesser critters like bears and such, will my wolves eventually get 'any' stronger? Now, I realize there's obviously got to be some cap to their abilities, that is, IF they even CAN be trained... I'm not silly enough to think they'd ever be able to fight the more powerful critters on the shard for me, I was just wondering if they'll gain ANY str, dex, skills... and if so, how strong CAN they get?

I've been begging for something like this for a long while now, and I'm sure there have been others long before me as well.(Though I've mostly been pitching it for large cats, wolves, and bears.)

This -may- happen, however. Drocket has a dragon raising system planned for the future, from what he's said. He at one time, also said it may be possible to do the same with these lesser beasts. This in my hopes will eventually make it so that we will be able to train and eventually hunt with wolves, big cats, and bears(maybe various other large creatures.) to the same effect as a great dragon. (Granted these creatures may need to be magical in nature for it to work..)

Probably doesn't answer your question, but these are the only thoughts and answers I have at the moment.

i believe the way it works celeste is that they do indeed get stronger and nastier the more you work with them. however they reset to base values when you stable them. i think they also reset to base values when they go wild. if it was possible to work up a real pack o wolves i might well try a tamer myself.

Ackadia offers high-level tamers the ability to have a pack of animals instead of a single animal...

Ackadia is another shard that utilizes the same scripts as WoD. The one high-level tamer I met in my short time there last summer had a pack of polar bears, and they kicked butt.

Ehran,

Any idea of where them dying then being rezzed would fall? Does that cause a 'reset' also?

It would be nice if stabling pets did not reset their learned skills. It would be logical too. A stable should be a safe, caring place for your pets.

I don't think that pets gain stats. I did not see any reference to that in the tamed creature scripts, which are what runs for all tamed creatures :) It would be pretty interesting if they did though.
