I really don't know what to say...but after WoD shuts its doors, I'll be signing off about 6 years of UO combined. WoD was my home for almost 3 years, and while I had my fair share of gripes and "enemies" there, it is without a doubt one of the best shards out there. I've met such incredible people that I don't think I could meet anywhere else. These people I can confide my deepest feelings with, without even meeting them face-to-face. I'm not even going to try and make a list, because it would just be too long. I will give one final prop to Marcus Del'Auqs *hears thunder in the distance* though, for without him, I wouldn't be here :) I wish to thank the admin, GMs, and Seers current and past, for all of the blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into creating such a place as WoD. I also wish to thank the players, for whom without, WoD would also not exist.
Now onto my other point...just let WoD go. This may be a biast feeling since I've been here so long and pretty much accomplished everything that possibly could be accomplished. Not that I'm not sad to see it go, but I agree with Drocket, WoD has had this coming. Everything comes to an end, so why not WoD? In order to keep in touch, why not instead of trading e-mails, just make an mIRC channel or something? That's what a lot of WoDers seem to do anyways, just log in and chat :)

Wow!

I'm not sure what to say other than I'm shocked and heartbroken.

WOD has been a part of my life for 5 years now (as of the 1st of October) and I really don't look forward to seeing it go away, for any reason. I truly hope that someone else will take over the riegns and run the shard as it would be such a waste to see all of the work and love that has been put into this shard just tossed aside. That is work and love not only on the part of the staff, but also on the part of the countless dedicated players, such as myself.

As for the staff, thank you one and all for the hard and endless work and dedication that you have shown us all. If this is a matter of feeling unapprecited, please don't ever think that is the case. None of us could have had this much fun without you. If it is simply a matter of burnout, well that is at least understandable but at least concider passing the shard off to new blood. Let it live if possible is all I'm asking. If not, well, life goes on I guess although not nearly with as much fun and adventure. I hope this is not the end. I pray it is not!

Very saddened to read the news.

I haven't been around much lately either but I do have many fond memories here on WOD. I want to thank everyone who has staffed WOD for the last 5 years, about 4 of which I've been around for off and on. You built an amazing world for us and I will always treasure my time here.

To all the players I've met during that time..I wish you all happiness and good health.

Wow, just wow. After over 3+ years now of making new friends, having lots of fun, and just good old being happy, I am just stunned. WoD was been such a great place for the hundreds of players who sought a place to be free from PK, a place to make closer then casual friends, a place to maybe call a second home. If WoD keeps going it won't be the same without Drocket or Laephis leading the way. If Daeric, Siobhan or any of you other GM's (sorry I don't know all of you) are leaving too it wouldn't be the same without you either. Thank you to all the administration for the many years and countless hours you have spent keeping such a place as this up and running for the benefit of us players.

*sniffles*

I don't have a way with words like the others that have posted before me.

I will simple say, I have enjoyed playing one WOD for the past almost 4 years. I know i haven't played much the past 8 months real life does that from time to time. but i wanted the staff to know how much we (Williams Family) have enjoyed playing here. the best part was meeting so many great people, and being able to let our small childern play with no fear that others will do something bad to them. I know they will be heart broken when they hear this.

*sniffles not being able to go on*

Yes.. I'm also shocked. This is pretty sad news, I knew this was coming someday but didn't want to believe it or think about it.

Its been such wonderful times along the years..hm about 2,5 years I have been on wod, the home, awesome people and the staff.

I want to thank everybody who has been involved the tale of the world of dreams. I'm so happy I have been a part of this world.

First the staff to mention:

Thanks to Arcanum, Drocket, Siobhan, Laephis and Daeric.

Then all the players especially:

Edison, who has helped me all the way from the beginning of my playing in here. You have been my idol since I met you first time.

Ciara, everytime cheerful and positive. Lady of the wod and awesome and hard-working to inscript scrolls to me to buy and all. Everything good to you and Roderick in future!

Atei Clan, (Pau, Aellius, Covenant, Nia and the rest) thanks for help and all, and of course the Ye'Olde Magick Shoppe was my favorite shop

Z's family (Zed, Zoltan Darkmoon etc.), Rocks Silivan, Xanola and all the Remings, ShadowStone, Malakim, funkybodal, Kale and Kolan etc. Greeneyes, White Raven.

Then some who I haven't been seen much, or talked: Tel'Imoen, Joram Lionheart, Lyl (the good side of her  ), Azzo and Grampa etc. Ranars, Cloudchaser, Herakles, Tamla Tamara, Wings, Aardwolf.

Then special thanks to Homer (who made the Fellowship Hall) and told such awesome stories.

Got so much memories and emotions from this world.. Wod is home to me, now and always will be.

*wipes tear*

Yours sincerely,

Acnox the Glorious Druid and tamer, Chanx the mage, Malox the warrior, Blaex the blacksmith and Ayalx the virtue guard, Xandermayas

What the hell?!

I go away or a few days and come back to hear that the shards is closing? (Although I can't really say that I didn't see this coming, a little sooner than I expected though.)

I guess I'll just have to go back to real life. This is the only instance of Ultima I have played and probably will remain that way.

Thanks to the admins for doing this, (creating WOD) in the first place.

Thanks for being that little way to escape for a while.

As others have commented, it was due to happen but the reality of it is rather disconcerting.

WoD was the only player shard I truly enjoyed and while I wasn't there for a very long time, I immersed myself in it and enjoyed it extraordinarily.

It helped ignite the creativity inside and I thoroughly enjoyed the forums, the stories that would just pop into my mind, the artwork and portraits, redoing the Manual, the POL scripting that I started to do, my complete enjoyment (even with the inherent frustrations) of being a Seer and just wandering a wonderful world of UO that was closer to the Ideal than any other I've encountered.

The best of it all was the people and within each of us, the spirit of WoD can always glow. I won't even start to mention names, there are too many people I enjoyed. Thank you all for welcoming me into your minds and hearts. (even you, Simon! :D )Anyone can reach me at ssalter@insightbb.com, if they care to do so.

He sighs and gazes at the myriad, hairline cracks spreading over the exterior surface of the crystal shard. Beneath him, his faithful Darlin' paws at the interstices of virtuality with her hoofs, eager to wander, and Bayn smiles with the knowledge that glorious memories of a World of Dreams will always be with him.

Where would we all be had it not been for this World of Dreams? I would not have met some incredible people, had some truly fascinating adventures and even found some friends I hope to keep long into the future.

To the Admin, Staff, Shard Host, Manual Host and my fellow players, I have two things to say: first, thank you for making these last years so great. Second, be proud of what you accomplished and go with fond memories of this wonderful World of Dreams. I know I will.

I was a little shocked when I found out yet another shard I have grown attached to, is closing. Thanks too all the people I have met here in my short life in WOD. Good luck to all the admins and staff, I am certain this was a hard choice to make. Thanks for creating a world "I still feel was one of the best thought out that I had seen"
Again-Many Thanks, Farwell my freinds and countrymen!!

I had a lot of fun playing on WoD for many years. It introduced me to some great people. I will have fond memories of it forever.

I'm sure that Drocket and the other admins have thought this through pretty well. I know when my group was hosting the server we went through quite a bit of contemplation over what to do when we decided we could no longer do the WoD justice.

We always felt that hosting the WoD was an honor and a duty, of sorts. The shard has been around for a long time and has maintained a very high standard during that time. I think it is really quite remarkable.

We did not want to hand the reins over to just anybody when we gave it up. We decided that if we didn't get a good team to take over the hosting we'd just put it away. Luckily Laephis stepped forward and took over and seems to have done a stand up job.

I'd rather have the lights get turned off in the WoD house while it is still a nice place rather than turn it over to a group that doesn't understand the issues involved in maintaining this sort of environment. When I say that, I don't just mean keeping a computer online to act as the server. I mean maintaining the WoD as a fair and fun place to play. Despite what some people might think, that really isn't an easy task.

As somebody else said, if you really want to run you own version of WoD, download the POL files and knock yourself out.

Marius "I expect a response"... what a maroon you are.

Im not exactly sure how i feel yet. Ive been thru the shock and the tears upon hearing about my home away from home not being here anymore. I've been thru anger and ive been thru the denial and i believe i left a little piece of me in every step.

I know that you believe its time for Wod to go and who would know better than you but i dont know if im ready to let it just slip away. I dont know if i can gracefully let it go.
I know that you (GM's) have put your heart and soul into this shard as if it were a young child to tend for many years, and now its time to put it to bed. You are greatly appreciated for your time and efforts.

I've only been here a year but i feel like i have lived a lifetime within this shard. I have always felt at home here. The enviroment the staff as fought to maintain.. the friends i have made along the way. I will never forget what this shard has meant for me.

With a sigh and a heavy heart,

When I first came to WoD from Mytharria, I was amazed at how much more supportive the community was. It was a simply awesome experience.

Since then, I have co-created my own shard (I am not going to mention what it is called). Because of this, I know how hard it would be to make this decision, the amount of money, time and passion that goes into a shard is simply phenomenal.

The people on WoD are simply great, just off the top of my head I can remember Atei, Ciara, SS, Ehran, Edison, Homer, Xanola, The Ranar Clan, Rocks, Zed, Tamla, Wings, Cloudchaser, Archus. Thanks for the good times.

Thankyou WoD for those great 2 years!

Well it is with a heavy heart that I must say goodbye to all the great people I have met here. In my heart I felt this is the best shard to call home. The people I have met here are the best people I have met and glad to consider them my friends anytime anywhere. I guess in my ignorance I wouldnt have thought it would come to an end. I will miss you all. If anyone has any link to a shard that is very close to the values and play of WoD let me know please. Especially if it is one most of the community here will be migrating to. It was an honor to be a part of the WoD community. Thanks to all the game staff for all of your hard work these years, you and WoD have touched us all in more ways than imaginable.

Sincerely,

Ashuuk
