The Scribe's Guild is here!

Postby Atei on Sun Mar 30, 2003 7:12 pm

No, this isn't about selling scrolls! :D

The Scribe's Guild is specifically for recording the History of the World of Dreams, both past and present, and the player's stories.

To become a member of the Guild you must agree to submit one story a week to the History Page of the Manual. The story can be about anything you wish as long as it pertains to the World of Dreams. If you want to write up a quest, interview a player, talk about a rude experience with Benson--whatever, that's fine. (If you prefer to send it to me first, I'm happy to review it before submission. Just e-mail it to me and I'll take a look.)

We will meet once a week (Saturdays at 6pm EST) at Ye Olde Magick Shoppe in SE Brit to discuss recent events and plan strategies for gathering more stories.

I encourage everyone to participate, and I hope I have a full house next Saturday, April 5th at 6pm EST!

Player-run Library... not unlike the Scribe's Guild

Postby Marius the Black on Sat Apr 05, 2003 2:19 pm

Hmm, the maiden post on a touchy subject.. perhaps not the best way to break the ice in WoD!

*In a nutshell*

There should be a player library where characters can go in Britannia to look up anything, or research or simply for novelty value. WoD has everything bar this; the closest being Fellowship Hall. I propose a real library, in Moonglow or Yew.

*The long-winded version*

The Scribe's Guild is specifically for recording the History of the World of Dreams, both past and present, and the player's stories.

Having read some of Atei's work on the History pages on the manual, I was impressed. However, my idea is a little different. I propose rather than the web-site (I've never really had a thing for them) submissions to have stories and history written in game, and the books presented in game.

Much like the Fellowship Hall. That way, it adds a corner of the world that is scholarly and where magi can be reclusive and sterotypical and so forth. But seriously, I feel that having a player-library in game would be a great addition to the shard.

However, I mean a full-blown library, like in Moonglow where that giant set of buildings are with the N sign (don't know the name of it,) or Empath Abbey in Yew.

I don't know how many people will want to help, but I plan to pursue this task myself. I've done about one hundred books already, and I think by the five hundred mark I can call myself ready for a library.

I hope I have some support out in the WoD community, and I am happy to accept player-written books on any shard-related content. I feel that this way, it is a more visble and characterised sort of chronicling the world, rather than just the web-site.

Though, that's not to say I think that the Scribe's guild is an excellent idea! Hopefully, we can team up in a way, and get some magic happening.

*6pm EST Saturday April 5, 2003*

"Hear ye, hear ye! I hereby call this First Meeting of the Scribe's Guild to order!

"First, let me welcome each and every one of you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for attending. The World of Dream's history is EVERYBODY'S business, and I'm glad to see so many have come out to participate.

"All those in attendance, signify by clearly stating your name for the record:"

Aellius Atei!

*silence*
*silence*
*silence*

*Meeting adjourned at 6:01 pm EST*

Seriously folks, since no one came out to the first meeting, I'm going to try again. I did wait until 6:15 or so, even brought food and drink. :D

Perhaps 6pm on a Saturday wasn't the best time to try this, so I'll hold another first meeting at Ye Olde Magick Shoppe at 3pm EST Sunday April 6th. That's tomorrow. I hope to see you all there!

I'll be there, Aellius. You and I are becoming good friends and I would love to join your guild.

But, I'm terrible with EST to AEST time so I'm either very late or way too early now.

Still, better late than never, no?

Save some nibblies for me. : )

15 hours? Yikes.

Well, I hope there's enough nibblies to cater for that!

Hmm, 15 hours of waiting. Wouldn't be a first I suppose. For a lark, i'll see if I can do it!

Hurrah! *three hours so far*

Hmm... exciting?
