As Trish and I (Covenant) prepared for the trip to the vile isle of Buccaneer's Den, we were joined by several other heroes of the Realm: Quzar, Rime Wolfsong, Roc Silivan and Malakim. We gated to Fellowship Hall and from there to the tip of Buccaneer's Den.
We all know how inhospitable Buc's Den can be. Between the Sisters, the various Pirates, the jungle terrain and the giant serpents, surviving a trip there can be difficult at best. If you hunt there, you have come to expect those things. They are part of the challenge--part of the
reason you go there.
This trip would be unlike any other I have taken to Buc's Den. Not fifteen paces from the gate we ran into a mob of Praetorians: generals, captains, sergeants, foot soldiers and those "wonderful" snipers. Trishara fell almost immediately in the battle (
) and I was not far from joining her. Had the rest of my compatriots not come to my rescue...
Anyway, we finally got a foothold on that cursed place when we were joined by Ciara and Gift Krieger. Shortly thereafter Edison, Azzo, Angelica and Thagadore swelled our ranks. When our initial band of six arrived it appeared that this fight might be too much for us. With the addition of all of this formidable firepower, I
knew we would win the day.
We finally defeated the Praets in that corner of the Isle when we came across Terrathans, mixed with Ophidians and Orcs. (Please remember we were also dealing with the "normal" inhabitants of Buc's Den AND all of Haraseem's priests, guards, fanatics etc).
The Isle crawled with evil as wave after wave of Terrathans, Ophidians, Orcs (including Orc Bombers, who explode after death), Pirates, Haraseem followers and giant serpents attacked us. Quzar fell, then Azzo, then Quzar again, but we made progress. At one of the buildings we found Trask, complaining about the ruckus we were creating. How could a fella take a nap with all this noise, he asked? He told us to find Haraseem and be done with it. As we pressed forward, we spotted Trolls, mixed with Vampires.
At the Bath House, I heard a man screaming from inside: "Stop, you'll ruin everything! Stop!" Quickly checking I discovered that the man was the abomination we came to destroy, the bringer of harm, fear and evil, the reason for our trip: Haraseem. He ran out of the building and was quickly snowed under with arrows, magical strikes from the mages, poison from Gift and blunt attacks of all varieties. Shortly thereafter, his death cry was heard throughout the land. Haraseem had been defeated.
We had no time to savor our victory, however, as we were again attacked by Trolls, Vampires, Pirates and the Haraseem followers. They seemed enraged that we had defeated their leader and they fought viciously. We worked our way through to the Northern part of the village when Trask reappeared. He made some off-hand comment about cannibals then left us.
Rejoicing, we knew we had accomplished the task at hand and had once again saved Britannia. We returned to The Brit Bank where we traded stories over ale (and split the bounty.)
