haiti is an oddity in the carribean sea. it's a french colony somehow overlooked by history by and large famous for a slave rebellion. since the french left it's been a miserable hole with no apparent hope of development. currently the thug the americans put in charge last time the place fell apart is losing a slow motion coup. he and his family have apparently flown out to the central african republic but there is a chance if his supporters rally that he may return. the coup appears to be busy falling apart now since the alliance to toss aristide has succeeded and the obligatory infighting over who gets to be the next Thug in Charge is underway.

there are a few hundred us marines and french troops in haiti right now keeping order in the streets and trying to disarm various factions.

Wow...totally unbelieveable.

I am veteran of the United States Army. So quit twisting my words to say each soldier's life does not mean anything. The way you folks are talking totally disrespect the U.S. and its soldiers fighting to preserve our freedom and our way of life.

I was going to reply further, but obviously I am in the minority, so I will quietly keep my mouth shut as not to offend anyone on this board, and defend the action my country is currently taking to defend ourselves. We will see how you feel when you lose a loved one in a senseless terrorist attack.

Hmm.. I was going to try to be funny in this one but the flaming kinda put me off that idea so I'll try to be serious in stead:

If peacekeeping forces doing nothing but peacekeeping is "invading" then yes IMHO.

So, tell me what Iraq had to do with Bin Laden?
And how did a country with no weapons of mass destruction, and no way of delivering the non-existant WMD's, threaten us to the point that we had to go wage a war that does nothing but ensure a steady supply of oil to us? Also, Why not invade Cuba, it has oil and has a dictator that oppresses his citizens to the point of dire poverty?
FYI, I spent my time as a soldier, it isn't the soldiers I am disrespecting, it is the flase leader they have to listen to that I show utter contempt and disrespect to. George Bush and his criminal regime, should all be tried for treason as well as crimes against humanity. You think what you want, it will help you sleep at night knowing you are in the right, but at some point you might want to wake up and check out reality. The Bush crime syndicate extends pretty far.

it's unlikely you are going to mortally offend anyone if you stick to facts factoids, and opinions. if the US soldiers fighting and dying in Iraq were accomplishing anything useful i would be a lot more supportive.

given recent events can you actually say the US is even a tiny bit more secure? it seems to me that the number of terrorists has greatly increased or at least increased their pool of eager recruits.
