Changes for October 2003

10-31-2003

  • Happy Halloween
  • Adventurer's Guild tickets are now given per-account instead of per-character. What this means is that, if you have a few characters who are a member of the AG, they can use each other's tickets to purchase items
  • AG guild ranking points (the thing that determines your guild title) is still per-character
  • Optimizations to .grab

10-30-2003

  • Bobby Bugfixer is now celebrating Halloween. To get a special gift, tell Bobby "Trick or treat"
  • The reset buttons for gumps in the .options menu will now close any open gumps (of the type selected to be reset)
  • Some assorted scripting changes to the invasion spawner to fix a few bugs. The rate of invasion most likely needs to be rebalanced...
  • Updated the WoD scripts

10-29-2003

  • Added a 'sell scrolls' checkbox to the sell bag options in .options
  • The position of druid bag and Codex gumps no longer resets upon server restart
  • Added a new page to .options, 'Gump Options'. The only current entries are the ability to reset the location of the druid bag and Codex gumps
  • Probably fixed the auctioneer "Congratulations! You're the current high bidder at error errortext = "Property not found" gold!" (though possibly not all instances of it)
  • Some of the tougher lizardmen now drop green hides instead of brown
  • Carpenters can now craft brooms and wineracks
  • The initial appearance of a wine-rack is empty, but a decorators tool can be used to adjust them to a variety of variations of fullness (similar to bookshelves)
  • Brooms are equipable and can act as 2 handed mage weapons. Its not recommended that you use them that way, though, because they have really low HP and will wear out quickly. Its mostly for show
  • Brooms can also be used to clean up messes, such as vomit and horse droppings
  • Fixed a problem with players leaving behind clones in areas they shouldn't
  • Ordering a pet to attack will now override guard mode
  • Added a couple of new cooking recipes (orange cake and orange juice)
  • Skilled cooks can now make some of the basic items such as dough and pie crusts in batches. Doing so has a higher skillcheck than making them one at a time
  • Making fruitcake no longer destroys a bowl
  • Henchmen now have a couple of new commands:
  • "(name) rearm bow" will make your henchman try to equip a bow
  • "(name) rearm one handed" will make your henchman try to equip a one handed weapon and shield
  • "(name) rearm two handed" will make your henchman try to equip a two-handed weapon
  • Normal "(name) rearm" works too, now
  • For the rearm command, "all" now also works in place of "(name)"
  • Your henchmen aren't very bright about these new commands. If you give them 2 two-handed weapons, they're probably going to become quite confused

10-28-2003

  • Fixed multiple issues with yesterday's alchemy changes
  • Old advanced alchemy potions can no longer be put into kegs
  • New advanced alchemy potions CAN now be put into kegs
  • Old alchemy potions in kegs will now be poured out as new alchemy potions. Its recommended that you pour out any old advanced potions that you may have in kegs to convert them over to the new system

10-27-2003

  • Multiple Alchemy changes:
  • Most advanced alchemical potions are now stackable
  • Removed Phandel's Fabulous Intellect and Mego Invulnerability potion (leaving 2 versions of these potion lines instead of the previous 3. These were the middle-quality versions)
  • Adjustments and tweaks to the skill requirements to use the advanced alchemical potions. Most potion lines have 2 versions, a lesser and a greater. The lesser can generally be used by characters with alchemy as a secondary (with some occasional failures, in most cases), and the greater by characters with alchemy as a primary (again with some occasional failures.)
  • Reduced the skill required to create a homunculus (but added a hard-coded skill requirement of 91)
  • The old (unstackable) versions of the advanced potions can be transformed by double-clicking them. Please do so, because leftover potions will likely be deleted in a week or two

10-26-2003

  • Fixed a naming issue with lard
  • Fixed a minor issue with monk speech

10-20-2003

  • A lot of previously unstackable cooking items are now stackable (pie, cakes and cookies, for example)

10-19-2003

  • A special (and temporary) item can now be purchased at the Adventurer's Guild. These items will disappear in a couple of weeks
  • Reduced the price of a few AG items
  • The new jack-o-lanterns can now be carved by using a knife on a pumpkin: you'll also need a candle. If you don't have the new WoD files, you won't be able to see the jack-o-lantern
  • Curtains can now be open and closed (double-click them while they're locked down.) There seems to be a graphical bug with the curtains that go along a north wall for players who have LBR or AoS. It looks like OSI messed them up: I'll fix them in the next version of the WoD files, I guess.

10-18-2003

  • A new version of the World of Dreams files is now available. These are the files that you (the players) need to download and install into your UO directory in order to see new items that have been added. There are only a few of these new items in the world right now, but more will be made available soon
  • For more information, see this thread on the WoD discussion boards

10-10-2003

  • Farmers now sell the seeds for lemon, lime and orange trees, as well as for potatoes
  • Fixed bakers so they'll now correctly sell all 3 cookbooks
  • Backgammon boards now work. You'll need to turn in your existing boards to Bobby Bugfixer, though, to get a working model
  • Player merchants will no longer permit you to rename chess and checker boards
  • Several behind-the-scenes changes that should make it a lot harder to lose pieces out of a gameboard

10-03-2003

  • Cookbooks were getting rather large and unwieldy, making it difficult to find anything, so the cookbook has been split into 3. There's the 'main' cookbook (which all existing cookbooks will turn into), a brewers cookbook (which features just the brewing recipes), and a pie and cake cookbook, which has all the pie, cake and cookie recipies.
  • Bakers will sell all 3 cookbooks, after they restock their inventory
  • Added a few new recipies, most of which require...
  • a new farm plant was added. Farmers sell the seed (or will after they restock.)

10-02-2003

  • Updated the WoD scripts

10-01-2003

  • World of Dreams is having a special contest this month. You can read more about it here
  • Fixed a minor problem with manastones
  • Fixed my mailbox. I was wondering why I wasn't getting any mail...
