Is it just me or are magic items rare as hell?

I went to famine, killed 4 vamp lords and a few dozen other vamps, not a single magic item

went to despise, cleared it completely, at least 4 orc kings, meleed 2 ancients and 4 royals and countless other lower dragons and orcs. The only magic I got was a magic lute from an orc marksman.

I know it's supposed to be tough but with almost noone playing consistently, there is very little magic stuff out there to find.

even low level magics and wands help with benson, but killing that many mobs should get me a little more magic (especially with high level stuff)

You were out of luck, magic items aren't that rare, and the likelyhood of getting one is unaffected by the amount of players killing monsters. The loot is determined randomly at the instant you kill the monster.
