This is kind of old news. While I was at a low point in equipment following the Yew blight disaster, I was killed on the Yew-Skara highway. I was waylaid by an ordinary gargoyle and while fightining him, I was unaware I was also taking magical fire from a hidden gazer. When I began to feel seriously weakened, I retreated to what I thought was a safe distance. Unfortunately, it was only a safe distance from the gargoyle, not the gazer. He took me down, but I was able to resurrect and recover my gear. Oh- and to kill the gargoyle and gazer, of course.
