I can't think of a better trade for a Virtue Guard than mining. The shields are acid resistant, the henchmen watch your back when you're concentrating a little too much on your shovel (or your browser) and the giant slimes give a good amount of virtue.

and if you have it speccedrather than a tradeskill, you get a nice bump to str.
