This is a GREAT idea and I am about to drop off a bag of decorations in the chest. I assume (although I still hate to assume) that the items cannot be removed once they are put in the chest, right?

The cake is back in the box. But I can't remember how to make the box "read-only", so I'll hold on to the items for the time being.

There is a way to .setprop but I don't recall what it is.
Alternatively, you could set a housesign and set you as owner. Make it invis and then secure the chest. Any items removed would be in the log.![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)
