anyone get their hides? I want a Cyclonus-skin tunic... seems like it'd be a nice color... yellow.... despite the fact that they're trolls.

I say this because they chose to go renegade during an off time, when noone who they considered a threat was online.

Note to self: improve Cyclonus AI... as is, no more threat to many players than a well placed praetorian.

Also, is this the right forum? I see nothing about game mechanics on it... ah! a ploy to get it deleted... mildly clever, Cyclo, but little more than amusing.

Now, it's my turn to pick at your post, though I may not do it as eloquently as my friends here do.

one of many idjits wrote:Yes, it's true. There was actually some fun to be had for once in the World of Rules.

Then go play there.

one of many idjits wrote:Britain was attacked by two vicious assailants, going by the names of Cyclonus and Nethlek.

vicious? Where? Oh... you mean those ignorant guys who were cussing in the bank... seemed cowardly to me, but... use whatever adjective you want...

one of many idjits wrote:We almost had as much fun being the outlaws as you all did chasing us around.

pity, isn't it, that the cops have more fun than the robbers? Invariably the robbers always lose, so it gets kinda dull, but hey... you lose some, we win some.

one of many idjits wrote:A big thanks to everyone who msg'd us thanking us for the day's entertainment. Many said it was the most fun they'd had on WoD, and I believe them all.

You messaged each other saying this...? saaaaaad.

one of many idjits wrote:However, it's now time for you all to get back to your dreary life of fighting off Earth Elementals when all you want to do is mine, running between towns due to GM's deciding the players don't deserve recall abilities, and just generally being annoyed by monsters in EVERYTHING you do that's fun.

Eef this is dreary, chain me to ze vall!

one of many idjits wrote:There's more to life than WoD people, and there's lots of shards out there that are still nonpk, but unlike this one, actually allow fun.

According to you, PKing a few innocents was fun. How can it be then that you would consider a shard to allow fun and be nonPK? Besides... what's life?

one of many idjits wrote:While it's novel for a little while, compared to other shards, this one blows. And the playerbase is full of whinging little GM wannabe's looking to police the fun out of everything and everyone. And it is for this reason we went out like we did.

I should probably break this into two, but *takes a breath* here goes.

Yes, this shard does blow... I'll be the first to say it blows a breath of fresh air into the world. Next, who's whinging? oh! You mean whining... I see.
Well, ok... I'll let ya have half a point. We do police ourselves, but as the staff page indicates, GM's are "th crappy job nobody wants". And you did what you did simply because you wanted people to talk about you after you're gone. While we may talk about you for about 2 weeks, we'll laugh about you for about a month, then forget about you completely, since you will become no longer worth remembering.

an idjit people are forgetting about even now wrote:To any new players: move on. This shard is full of grizzled old players that wish they could leave, but they have too many magics on all 5 of their characters. Slaves to the shard if you will. And in their terrible boredom, you'll soon find that players and GM's have nothing better to do than turn into community cops, and annoy you about petty indiscretions. It's a small player base full of even smaller minds

This isn't directed towards me or the general assembly, so I'll move on after saying just a few words: As with everything else you've said since I've known you, you are WRONG. A disgruntled player trying to get kicks off of punching himself in the face. While it may be fun for a very short while, it is utterly pointless.

you know, that guy, who did all that stuff... wrote:To anyone who actually gets to read this before a GM deletes it due to its accurate content: 'We liked what we did. And we'd do it again.'

Accuracy? Where? *looks around for a ray of light in this garbage can of a post* oh! A joke! nice one, Cyclonus. Also, you would, but you won't, cause you can't, so the point is utterly moot.

oh... what was his name again? wrote:Today's lawlessness was the most fun thing to happen to this shard in a long long time, and I doubt it will be happening again any time soon.

I hope not, it may've been fun for a sadistic pers-- well, a sadistic soul like you, but not to me.

2 things, since I feel in the mood to pick posts apart:
it should be "an", and "I before E except after C"
Where are the spelling Nazis when you need them?

I am completely sorry for Saturday when i was fooling around, :( i understand why you guys feel that way, i was annoying and i am soooo sorry. I promise it will not do it again, as i am having a great time on WoD i will never leave it unless i am forced too.:(

And my two-bits:

Cyclonus: What about everyone laughing it up when the guy killed the chicken? Our fault too?
Nethlek couldn't even cast that, now you're just making stuff up.

What do you mean "cast"? all i did was take out my arrows and shoot the dang thing! It was making noises and i thought it would do everyone a favor to shutting it up. But i guess you didnt take it that way and started blaming other people for your feelings about it. So i have one thing to say: GOOD BYE AND DONT COME BACK

Re: WoD Becomes Fun For One Day

Postby Joram Lionheart on Tue Mar 04, 2003 11:06 pm

Oh shucks...
A troll came by and I didn't even get a chance to convince him of the sheer stupidity of his comments.

Well, I think I'll give it a shot just in the case he comes back to give us something else to laugh about.

Cyclonus wrote:Yes, it's true. There was actually some fun to be had for once in the World of Rules.

I don't know about the "World of Rules" but I've always had a blast in the Word of Dreams. Why else would I still be playing here after more than three years?

Britain was attacked by two vicious assailants, going by the names of Cyclonus and Nethlek. We almost had as much fun being the outlaws as you all did chasing us around. A big thanks to everyone who msg'd us thanking us for the day's entertainment. Many said it was the most fun they'd had on WoD, and I believe them all.

Translation: You realized that people here were actually having way too much fun to pay more attention to you, so in a pathetic attempt to put yourself as the center of everyone's universe you decided to make yourself the laughingstock of the entire shard. But alas, your childish antics failed to give you the celebrity status you were looking for. What's worse, you were not even given the coverage you expected to get, so leaving aside whatever dignity you had left, you dragged your sorry ass to the forums and pleaded with us to acknowledge your efforts to attain your 15 seconds of fame.

I gotta hand it to you, though, your thread had potential. Unfortunately, you chickened out way too fast after you realized your post failed to convince anyone of your bullshit and so you ran away like a little girl whose dad had just yelled at her. If you had stuck around longer maybe you could've started a minor flamewar but as it stands, we've had more heated discussions about dollar bills (:P) and bonsai cats (don't ask).

However, it's now time for you all to get back to your dreary life of fighting off Earth Elementals when all you want to do is mine, running between towns due to GM's deciding the players don't deserve recall abilities, and just generally being annoyed by monsters in EVERYTHING you do that's fun.

Hahahaha *LMAO* Oh my goodness! You must be the first sucker ever to convince his dumbass self to leave the shard because he kept getting bitchslapped by some puny earth elementals. Congrats! you deserve the "I'm the idiot of the year" award.

There's more to life than WoD people, and there's lots of shards out there that are still nonpk, but unlike this one, actually allow fun.

Lots of shards? Really? Well I have tried other shards other than WoD before and NONE of them came close to being nearly as fun as WoD. Among those shards there were at least a couple that used WoD scripts but they still sucked big time. I guess the scripts have very little to do with the quality of a shard.

While it's novel for a little while, compared to other shards, this one blows. And the playerbase is full of whinging little GM wannabe's looking to police the fun out of everything and everyone. And it is for this reason we went out like we did.

I think the reason that you went out like you did (other than the fact you are a sorry loser who's desperately looking for someone to give him some attention), is because you finally figured out that you were in a place where you did not fit it. People abide by the rules here because they want to do so. We make our own rules and we follow them. If we weren't having fun with them we would change them, don't you think? (dumb question). Those people that don't want to follow the rules simply go somewhere else, and that's the end of the story.
But you on the other hand, you wanted to go on "a blaze of glory" but all you managed instead was to make a royal fool out of yourself.

To any new players: move on. It's a small player base full of even smaller minds.

Ah...a grizzled old player, I guess that would be me. Well, despite what most people assume not ALL oldbies have 5 mil gold in their bank accounts and a boatload of destruction weapons and invulnerabilty armor. I for one, didn't have a single destruction item until someone gave me an axe of D the other day (thanks SS :D), and I don't think I've ever even held a piece of invul plate. As far as gold goes, I have less than 2 mil in my bank right now, which is truly laughable for someone that's been playing for more than three years.

So clearly I'm not in it for the "money" (pardon the pun) or because I have been hoarding magics since day one (although I know some people that have). The reason why I'm still playing in this shard is quite simple: It is still fun.

I think the most important argument against the case of WoD not being fun is the obvious fact that we're still here. After more than 3 years (4 in August), WoD is going stronger than ever (seriously), something that we wouldn't have been able to do if our shard was boring as you claim. People like you that have accussed us of being boring, well, let's just say I can count them with the fingers in my hands (out of the hundreds who have played on WoD of the years). I'm sorry Mr. Moron but the overwhelming majority tends to disagree with you.

To anyone who actually gets to read this before a GM deletes it due to its accurate content:

Don't you feel stupid for being wrong all the time? 8)

'We liked what we did. And we'd do it again.' Today's lawlessness was the most fun thing to happen to this shard in a long long time, and I doubt it will be happening again any time soon.

Ahh, see I told you you thought too much of yourself. I'm sorry to break it down to you loser, but we've had much better shows in the past. I can think of a couple of clowns of the top of my head, but mostly it has just been people that didn't make it through the application process. I seriously doubt you will go down in history as the a--hole of the year, your act was simply old, played out, and came short of causing an uproar like you expected. Just look at the number of replies to your thread, for pete's sake it doesn't even come close to attaining the title of a proper flame-war. I don't know, maybe I just too high standards :P

Oh and one more thing... :ninja:

I've been meaning to use that emoticon for the longest time :D

Re: WoD Becomes Fun For One Day

Postby Daeric on Tue Mar 04, 2003 11:51 pm

I know how aggravated we can all get with people and posts like this, however I would like to remind everyone that resorting to cursing at the offending people goes a long way towards invalidating your arguments. Berating someone for being inconsiderate and offensive on a family oriented shard is difficult when you curse at them. I would ask everyone to please obey the rules and refrain from offensive language on these boards and in game. People like this will come and go, and because of this shards open and player friendly attitude and high standards of excellence sometimes we swallow a few bad seeds.
As always we'll spit them out when they choke us and enjoy what's left of the fruits of our labor.

On a personal note: I would like to thank you all. While some of the posts went a tad too far they overwhelmingly show your support for the shard and it's administration and I for one am touched by your dedication and hope we can put this ugly incident behind us quickly and get back to Dreams.

Does that mean we get a "special treat" from the Administration for being so good and loyal?

Seriously now, I say it's time we dispel some nasty rumors that have been circulating since people like Cyclonus started spreading lies about our GMs and Admins. NO ONE out there is getting "special favors" from our GMs for whatever reason. WoD is simply not that kind of shard. By the same token, no one can threaten another player out there on the false claim that he/she has GM friend(s) who can do him/her GM favors.
Anyone that claims otherwise is lying, period.

SOMEONE KILLED A CHICKEN!?

Postby Wrathfire on Tue Mar 18, 2003 12:54 am

Well, I sure hope the chicken consented to fight. Otherwise, that's just plain mean!

Had I been there, I would have gladly championed and avenged the poor bird.

*sigh* Never a druid around when you need one, I know.

Oh yeah, and Cyclonius, er whatever yer blasted name is, I must concur with my fellows; good riddance. Have fun on your new shard.

Now, about those special GM favors...
