Destruction of Britain Orchard

Postby Dracovich on Thu Jun 10, 2004 9:58 pm

I have been maintaining the large free farm and orchard in the Britain Farmlands for almost a year now. However, today I logged in to find that somebody has destroyed all of my trees (4 of each type, around 140,000 gold worth of trees) and planted cotton in random places throughout my farm and then put their house where my trees where  :( .

Now I am not going to point a finger a the person who's house it it since they are a younger player, but I have harvested those trees within the last week so I know that they didn't decay. Unless there was a glitch in the server, which I know can happen.

So I am asking if the person who put their house in my orchard could please move it. I really don't want to bring a GM into this issue, because the issue could go either way :).

Once the house is moved I am going to replant all the trees. But I would like to remind newer players not to destroy trees because they cost alot and do belong to other players. Especially since now I will have sunk over 300k into that farm :)

Thank you,

If I were you I would try and contact said person in the game, I dont remember of ever seeing them have a single post on the forum yet so they may not even know it exists!

I talked to the owner of the House today and he was nice of enough to move his house so I could replant the orchard :)
I also compensated him for the cost of replanting all of his flowers and hedges at his house. Thank you very much Cecil/Bowjack :)

The owner of the house also informed me that he knew who destroyed all of the trees. The owner informed me that the person in question told him that he destroyed the trees and that it was ok to put his house there. I am not going to post this persons name, but I know this person and he has been around long enough to know that he should not have destroyed the tress.

I am going to contact this person on my own to try to resolve this issue and try to get compensated for the 140,000 gold I had to spend to replant the farm.

That was exceptionally weak. I don't know if the person should be punished but should at least get a strong verbal beating around the face and hands. As Dracovich's older brother I reserve the right for some whoopin'. So criminal beware!

Marius,
My reason for posting this was that somebody purposely destroyed something that was not theirs that cost a lot of gold to maintain. I was up keeping that farm and orchard for use by everyone, so those who did not have access to a field could get the raw materials they needed. The destruction of something I was up keeping for public use was more of the issue than the loss of the money.
How would you feel if I went into your library and purposely destroyed all of the books that you took so long to put together?

Fully agreeing that it was a painful thing to see your really expensive to maintain pet project destroyed, I believe their question was more to the point of..."If you knew who the house owner was, why didn't you keep the problem between the 2 (or was it 3 in the end?) of you rather than making a federal case of it here on the boards?"

I'm not sure you really owe us any justification for posting this issue as you did, but there is something to be said for discretion after all.

I think Draco has been exceptionally discreet and calm-headed about the whole thing. He ahs also taken the time to discover the facts, and even after doing so, has not pointed any fingers, *AND* has nicely repaired the situation. In his 1st post (which is where some ppl would have started ranting and raving immediately) he explained the situation, and also calmly pointed out that IF it was a newer player, they should be more aware of the mechanics of what they did. He also explained just why a very nice public resource was no longer available. And, even after finding out that the alleged culprit was NOT a new player - and should have known better - he refrained from accusations and finger pointing and told us what will be happening.

I for one would definitely like to know if there's a player online who thinks they are justified in removing others' items - even if I don't get the name.

I agree with kaice, dracovich has been nothing but calm and discreet. He could have easily walked right up to the player that did this and yelled and screamed and had it out with them. And in response to Dell-Leafsong, he posted his original message prior to finding out who had destroyed the orchard. Once he had posted the issue, he then came in contact with the person whose house was built there and told about the encouter with said "orchard destroyer". Just had to get my two cents in.
