Curse of the Mythical Dragon

Postby BabyKinz on Sun Oct 20, 2002 1:58 pm

This is to all the lovers of these magical creatures, whether you are a tamer in days past or still dabble in this fine art.

I've been a tamer of Dragons for many years, the companionship and protection I get from my Dragon friends is like no other.
Dragon have always been great protectors, trustworthy, true, loyal and very intelligent.

That was until a while ago

Seems there has been some curse brought upon my friends. I am not sure when it happened, but I am sure it happend.

Has anyone else experienced a loss in their pet Dragons abilities.

I just dont understand how something so brave and magical can get stuck behind a tree when we are out hunting in the woods.

I dont understand how something some loyal , can not listen when I ask it to follow me.

I dont understand how something so strong can not take an orc and snap it in two.

Where once was a GREAT, now stands a ..... :?

The reason for this post, is I am considering giving up my arts in taming and seeking training in something that will serve me better.

have others given it up?

have others experienced a loss in their dragons abilities?

Is there a secret Dragon password I am not saying to my Dragon to have it mind me?

Are you talking about a few different things here?

There is the problem of a dragon getting befuddled (the ai script goes berzerk for a while) and doesn't respond to commands. I dont know what causes this, but I am looking into it. Sometimes the problem seems to fix itself, but I've found I can sometimes clear this problem if I can get a monster to attack the dragon.

There might be a problem of dragons becoming unexplainably weaker. I have suspected it before several times. Unfortunatly I can't do a .info to check on their stats and skills, so I can't be certain if anything is happening. Stabling or ressurecting the dragon (which resets their stats)seems to cure it though. Maybe there is some bug with stat mod spells on npcs. Maybe malevolent staffers change the dragons attributes.

Dragon stuck behind a tree? Unless its befuddled it should catch up to you if you just keep walking.

Dragons are difficult to deal with, but thats the price we pay to reap the rewards of their strength.

last week me and pet(great dragon) where hunting nasty trolls and this cheif jumped me. I was going toe ta toe with him. and not doing badly at it i might say for being me. anywho, Pet comes over after he ate a shamman. cheif took out Pet fast. I had to rez him. and he wasn't badly hurt from the shamman either. (maybe 1/8 hurt if that)

he tends ta go nuts from time ta time. only way to fix it is ta get him ta sleep.(log off and wait for him to time out)

*wonders off not knowing if that was helpfull or not*

How about, you are surrounded by MOBs and your dragon and you have a tiny bit of life left, so you must retreat.....you call your Dragon and he starts to come, only to stop and go back to fight , you call and call as you retreat...he listens for 2 seconds and then decides , stupidly , to fight some more....until he dies.

How about walking through a dungeon and having to retrace your steps because your Dragon cant figure out how to go around a corner.

How about a Dragon who stands there taking casting spells on it and doing nothing until something malees it.

I've been around a long time and I've seen first hand how wonderful these creatures have been. Their intelligence has been cut to that of a *gulps* common creature.

you leave him to die, they have never listened well while more then 4 things are trying to fight it.

I haven't had this happen at all.

Kayla is the first char i made, she is the one i play 95% of the time. I have not seen much of a change in their intel. just that they seem weaker to me now. :(

I have hunted a fair bit with Whisper and her dragon does seem, shall we say, "reduced."

For example, the other day we were hunting and she tamed a grizzly bear. (She also had her Great dragon with her.) The bear fought right by her side and didn't wander off while the dragon seemed lost.

Does it make sense that a bear would be a better protector than a dragon?

Probably the number one cause of dragon death. =[
Best to not let a group attack the dragon in the fisrt place, but if my dragon gets distracted by a big group of mobs I try to cast tranquility before we are both in trouble. Good to have lore in prime for that though. If the dragon dies you can res him/her after you've made your own escape.

Just keep walking. They'll catch up.

I haven't seen this either.

I love having my dragon around, even when its not doing my grunt work. It was so depressing though when my dragon Gragus volunteered to talk to me and some friends the other day. He said that going to hunt praetorians was pointless and he would rather have a log (I guess to chew on). He sang a song about log and bared his soul by saying "I also like peanuts". *sigh* My other dragons were all so intelligent. Oh well, he is still a good dragon.
