It was quite a spectacle watching Gizash try to recruit people to his cause. His eagerness to take advantage of a schism amongst the Heroes of WoD did him no honour. I was so shamed by the fact some took up his cause and wore his shields openly for a time. To this day seeing a chaos shield brings back memories of darker days.

Aye, it is too bad the evil one used the glorious Chaos shield for his machinations.

The shields and branches of Virtue guards should actually be named to something more intelligent anyway. Order? Chaos? Those terms are ambiguous, confusing and relatively meaningless within our world.

What do you suggest, Bayn? Snakes (Order) and Ladders (Chaos)?

Good topic! What would be good replacement names?

*sits at the feet of the scholars*

What I'm curious to know is if there is a story behind our queen. Where did she come from and how did she gain the throne? And, perhaps most important... where is she now?

As far as order vs. chaos, I like the idea of modifying the names to better reflect their roles. Personally, I see the order guards as being the Hand of the queen, and the chaos guards as the Watchers of the world. I would love to see more meaningful names given to the respective groups.

Sadly, I'm not sure there is one. The Queen--her past and origins--remains a mystery for us all. For whatever reason, Seers have never attempted to write a history of the Brittanian Monarchy, and worse still, the Queen herself remains an elusive character. All I know about the Queen are a bunch of unrelated facts (such as, she's a skilled sorceress) that do not tell me much about her past.

I must say he, Gizash, was an eloquent and somewhat pursuasive speaker. Those you speak of with shame, were fine warriors, if not easily swayed at times. I am still proud to have called them all friends and allies.

To this day, though, I still believe virtues are something you carry in your heart, not some simple picture on a shield.

The Manual has a section on WoD history although it is quite incomplete and fragmented. According to it, Queen Lissar just existed. That was brought to light when someone else claimed to rule the land and it "was found out" that there was a rightful ruler that needed rescuing.

As to where she is now, I imagine she's holed up at some secure beach resort. :)

Personally, I see the order guards as being the Hand of the queen, and the chaos guards as the Watchers of the world. I would love to see more meaningful names given to the respective groups.

Ooooh, nice. The Queen's Hand and the Watchers.

It took me a while to find the histories. I may be blind but i couldn't find where they were linked anywhere in the manual. The Search didn't bring all the parts up, so I ended up playing around with the URL to find them all. I have to say, it was a very interesting read... but it seemed to be missing some of the WOD Historical names i've heard thrown about here and there.... I would seriously love to read and learn more. :)

The first menu has a link named WoD History. It is the menu item on the initial menu. If you click that you should see 16 different links that will open a page with info on the right.

Queen's hand? Wouldn't that be "hands?" And, just how many "hands" does the Queen have? (are you saying she's an octopus type of creature?). Not sure being named after body parts is going to cut it.
Watchers does not sound like an appropiate name either. Do you mean Chaos guards are mere spectators while Order guards are the action-men? (Eyes v. Hands?) Besides, the word watcher has this sinister sound to it (almost like "The Guardian") that should not be associated with Virtue guards.

I think it'd be easier to separate Order and Chaos into two different knighthood orders or brotherhoods. ASomething like the Queen's Knights vs. the [Insertappropiatenounhere]'s Knights. Of course, to claim Chaos knights are part of an order would be problematic since any brotherhood implies organization and structure (antithetical notions to the knights of Chaos).

It's not a snake! It's a Silver Serpent Emblem! And I believe the Chaos symbol is actually a cross (a Scarlet Greek Cross. Why a cross? beats me. I suppose you could always refer to it as the big red X :P
