WoD Becomes Fun For One Day

Postby Cyclonus on Tue Mar 04, 2003 1:16 pm

Yes, it's true. There was actually some fun to be had for once in the World of Rules.

Britain was attacked by two vicious assailants, going by the names of Cyclonus and Nethlek. We almost had as much fun being the outlaws as you all did chasing us around.

A big thanks to everyone who msg'd us thanking us for the day's entertainment. Many said it was the most fun they'd had on WoD, and I believe them all.

However, it's now time for you all to get back to your dreary life of fighting off Earth Elementals when all you want to do is mine, running between towns due to GM's deciding the players don't deserve recall abilities, and just generally being annoyed by monsters in EVERYTHING you do that's fun.

There's more to life than WoD people, and there's lots of shards out there that are still nonpk, but unlike this one, actually allow fun.

While it's novel for a little while, compared to other shards, this one blows. And the playerbase is full of whinging little GM wannabe's looking to police the fun out of everything and everyone. And it is for this reason we went out like we did.

To any new players: move on. This shard is full of grizzled old players that wish they could leave, but they have too many magics on all 5 of their characters. Slaves to the shard if you will. And in their terrible boredom, you'll soon find that players and GM's have nothing better to do than turn into community cops, and annoy you about petty indiscretions. It's a small player base full of even smaller minds.

To anyone who actually gets to read this before a GM deletes it due to its accurate content: 'We liked what we did. And we'd do it again.' Today's lawlessness was the most fun thing to happen to this shard in a long long time, and I doubt it will be happening again any time soon.
Cheers

Your post is 95% flamebait which I don't have the patience to deal with...maybe someone else will set the record straight. But I will make one thing perfectly clear. GMs will never delete a post because it is disagreeable and inaccurate..

I guess you're tired of kissing up now? http://www.theworldofdreams.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1659&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15
Was it when you found out that your idea of "fun" offends many people? Was it when you ran out of people to blame? Sure, many players found your antics to be hilarous (including some of the GMs), but you are playing on a shard that strives to appropriate to all ages of people. Disregarding the spirit of the law is just plain immature. I agree, there are many other shards out there, some of which may be a better fit for your personality.

Kissing up? You have enough people doing that to you Laephis. Notice that your name is always the one that gets dropped when players claim they can get GM's to do stuff for them, or they're threatening others. Are you completely transparent with other GM's about what you get up to with players? Maybe you should have kept your mouth shut. (purely speculation of course)

I'd never have gotten my suggestions considered if I'd have said what I really think of the place straight up would I? Have to rub you all the right way first. I'm not that stupid. That post was my last attempt at believing some fun might be injected into the World of Rules.

Wrong.

Good riddance.

I came oh so very close to reporting these 2, along with a couple of others, for being so disruptive during the Lord Gizash Quest on Saturday. During the actual fighting they couldn't contain themselves to be part of the group effort and kept trading insults with Shadowstone, but that was nothing compared to how rude and disrespectful they were during the loot split afterwards and at The Abbey with Bishop Duncan. Had Covenant not been a designated looter, he would have recalled shortly after the quest began because the ongoing antics and bickering ruined that Quest for me.

You say you were only looking to have fun--does that include swearing like longshoreman after being warned about it repeatedly? Does that include being rude and disrespectful to your fellow players and GMs? Does that include being childish and boorish?

WoD is a COMMUNITY, and communities have rules. Those of US that choose to abide by those rules have a great deal of fun. Those of YOU who do not, won't.

Again, good riddance to smelly garbage.

Hey Atei, we've said it 100 times before to anyone who asked:
A) We were quite well behaved on that quest until Shadowstone had to start teasing ppl about dying. What were we meant to do? Take his insults and shut up because he's played here longer?

And B) EVERYONE was making jokes and fooling around at the end of the quests. Even the GM's said it. But hey, since you all saw Me and Nethlek swear a few times we became the scapegoat for everything.
(also, that was our first quest. We didn't know deathly silence was required at its completion. At least get the facts straight before you post crap.)

I'll let Shadowstone defend himself because he is quite well able to do that, but let me ask you this: WoD is RP-friendly, right? Says so right on the banner, we talk about it in the rules etc. So when a GM-controlled player like Bishop Duncan is talking, adding to the RP of the Quest, might it not make sense to keep your smart-alecky comments to yourself? During the loot split and later at the Abbey, might it not make sense to NOT crack jokes and behave like immature jerks especially after I and at least one other person requested it? The fact that is was your first quest is all the more reason to shut up and watch so you can learn.

The fact is, you and he were BOTH asked to knock it off by several of us that were there and you just couldn't control yourselves. You're both such gifted comedians that you felt the need to share that gift with the rest of us, and when you got hauled on the carpet for it, you claim that WoD isn't fun and that the GMs are out to get you or that I didn't have my facts straight.

I don't know who the Seer was who ran that quest Saturday but I hope he or she sees this and lets us all know what he or she saw. I was especially embarassed at the disrespectful way that several people acted at the Abbey afterwards but I suppose that was because of Shadowstone or power-hungry GMs too? Oh wait, SS didn't go to the Abbey so it's kind of hard to blame him for that, isn't it?

Maybe I should refresh your memory.

"A shard without power-mad, ban-happy, megalomaniacal GM's is a rare thing."

"AND you guys have a sense of humour? I'm sorry, you just don't fit the mould for GM's."

You have enough people doing that to you Laephis. Notice that your name is always the one that gets dropped when players claim they can get GM's to do stuff for them, or they're threatening others.

I have a very low tolernace for dececption, Cyclonus. I dealt with the person using my name the day I learned of it. This was one player. I haven't heard a problem reported since then. This was 4 weeks ago. We don't play favorites. Ever.

Are you completely transparent with other GM's about what you get up to with players? Maybe you should have kept your mouth shut. (purely speculation of course)

Your smug attitude will gain you no allies, Cyclonus. All I see are more attempts to place blame on other people, and in this case it's me. I guess you haven't run out of other people to blame.

I'd never have gotten my suggestions considered if I'd have said what I really think of the place straight up would I?

As long as your language is civil, you can say anything you want on these boards. I guess you wouldn't know that since you never bothered to try.

Have to rub you all the right way first. I'm not that stupid.

What a shallow and pessimistic comment.

That post was my last attempt at believing some fun might be injected into the World of Rules.

And this post is an attempt to backpedal all those words of praise you heaped on us. Sorry, Cyclonus, but you've been caught in a nasty contraction. Better to suck it up and move on than to embarrass yourself further.

Wrong.

Yes, something you're quite good at being.

This conversation is about as productive as the one I watched you have with Sebastian the other night...You can clearly give a 10 year old a run for their money, but I outgrew these kind of conversations years ago.

Nice try there Laephis. Breaking my post up into little portions that you could try and defend against. Wasn't effective though.
Words of praise I heaped on you? I said you all weren't all completely power mad. But of course, trust a GM to take that as a supreme compliment.

If you outgrew these conversations years ago then why were you the first one to jump in and post? Then post again? You complete moron.

And Atei, have you posted about all the other ppl at the Abbey who were making jokes? No? Funny that. Seems like you, like everyone else, fixated on two people.

The truth is, I remember 4 people acting childish at the Abbey: you, Nethlek, Dragonan and I don't know who the fourth one is. I have my log set up to autosave but for some reason I didn't have the details or I would have posted it. Someone kept attempting to cast invis and/or incognito but that might've been Nethlek. Feel better now knowing that I mentioned Dragonan?

Im my opinion it doesn't matter what the GM's do, these people have taken the time to build and maintain this shard, They had to pay for a server and each month they have to pay for the bandwidth for the rest of us to play for FREE. If you don't like it then why don't you just leave and not try to make youself feel good by putting others down. I just don't think it's right to complain about something that is free.

What about everyone laughing it up when the guy killed the chicken? Our fault too?
Nethlek couldn't even cast that, now you're just making stuff up.

Anyway, end of thread.
The shard is boring.

Ahh, what the heck, one more to make this a really great morning. :D

Cyclonus wrote:Nice try there Laephis. Breaking my post up into little portions that you could try and defend against.

Actually, I broke it up into little portions to help small minds understand it.

Wasn't effective though.

If was effective enough for you to avoid every point I made and jump right back into blaming someone else for your problems.

Words of praise I heaped on you? I said you all weren't all completely power mad. But of course, trust a GM to take that as a supreme compliment.

Backpedal, backpedal, backpedal, take a stab at someone else. Quite a pattern you've developed here. If only it were original.

If you outgrew these conversations years ago then why were you the first one to jump in and post? Then post again? You complete moron.

Ok, ok, you got me there. I'm a naughty boy for responding to such juvenile drivel. And I broke my two post rule for threads like these. Naughy boy indeed! No cookie for me. :( At least I can take comfort in being called a moron.

Anyway, end of thread.

All finished getting your kicks off posting garbage?
The shard is boring.

What ever will we do without offensive comments to brighen up our dull days?
Laephis contradicts himself.

*slaps hand for responding to infantile posts again*
And we carried on and had the time of our lives at your expense.

That, my friends, is the kind of attitude that ruined OSI shards. Selfish, selfcentered immaturity.
Have a nice day.

Thanks, I will! :D
