The changes page said that smithy could be in either the first primary or the tradeskill slot, but I've noticed many chars complaining that if it's in the tradeskill slot it doesnt work. They move the skill to first primary and it works fine. Could someone look into that?

do you mean on a mule type char?

IF swords is your 1st prime and BS is the trade it should work just fine. But if say BS is your Trade and cookio your 1st Prime, you'll need to swap them.

Pretty sure it was mule chars in all those cases.

I have not. Aellius has it as his trade and he doesn't have any issues with it doing the new order contracts.

To get a blacksmithy contract, you need to have blacksmithy as the skill that gets picked when you do a job. The way that works is that, if you have a tradeskill set as your first primary, that's the skill used to job, otherwise it uses your tradeskill skill. The reason for this is that if you go around with 'tailor' on your paperdoll (since your first primary is used to determine your title), you probably would want tailoring jobs.
