Idea for Bard Skills

Postby Azalin4savioR on Sat May 15, 2004 5:18 am

The subject I have heard several people comment on is how overpowered the Provocation skill that a bard uses can be in alot of situations in dungeons and elsewhere. After some thought I came up with a possible solution, I figure ill post it and see what you all think about it.

I was thinking eleminate the skills Provocation and Peacemaking and replace them with a skill called Bard Song. More or less it would be a way to limit yet not eliminate the Provocation and Peacemaking skills and add fresh new elements to the bards arsenal of ablilties. I was thinking using Stamina in the place of Mana since the bard is technically singing instead of spell use. Different songs represent different effects. Some song examples include:

Provoke - Same as the provoke skill

Peace - same as the peacemaking skill

Cure - area effect cure spell

Heal - area effect heal spell

Silence - causes all spells in said area affected to have a harder casting difficulty causing more fizzles.

War - area affect natures blessing

Courage - area effect strength buff

Inspiration - area effect intellegence buff

Hold - targeted creature is frozen in place for limited time.

I havent came up with all the ideas for everything but these are a few of them. I would also like to add that because alot of the helpful songs are area effects that would buff entire groups, it would probably be best that their not as powerful as the spells that do the same to one person at a time.

Now ofcourse items that deal with giving buffs to Provocation and Peacemaking would have to be fixed to instead buff Bard Song or the Music Skill whichever would be best.

If you like this idea, or have any commets please post them, I'd like to hear what others think on this subject.

I didnt think people would support it because of the fact they didnt want to loose their "powerful" bards but not really sure who all used one *shrugs*
