"Naked" hunt for Mages!!!

This Sunday, the 29th, at 3:00 P.M. EST we will have a "naked" hunt for the mages of WoD. What is a naked hunt?

"Naked" means you leave all magics and armor at home and take only potions, regs, and your spellbook with you (ok, bandages are acceptable too!). So, no jewelry, no scrolls, no magic weapons, etc. A plain non-magic staff is allowed (liche and druid staffs are ok too as long as they are non-magical). Wear only normal clothes (none with buffs) and keep the clothes simple so we can all see that you have no magics on. Short pants and shirt are fine.

We will gather at the Haunt and take a vote on where to hunt. We might want to start with the Brigands though -- just to get some armor. hehe

This should be a lot of fun and an interesting learning experience too! If we get a ton of people, we may divide into two or more groups. Hope to see you there! :D

Just to get some armor? Why not just go out with armor on....Augy, I would suggest something more along the lines of "A hunt for the sake of hunting run." With a party of mages there is no dungeon at all that they can not walk through at a steady pace without fear of death. Azzo says I need to shut up and make fun later so he can add his two cents. (which is about all he has since the dern fool spent the family fortune on some mage junk)

::Azzo casts specters touch, curse, weaken, clumsy and poison on Keel and watches as he runs to find Gramps::

There..that should keep the dufus occupied for a little while. He is lucky I didn't plague him as well!
Anyway, I digress...the buffoon did have a good point though...when I was privilaged enough to join the kilted warriors in hunting the other night, I had the highest ar in the group and Ciara was there...I had higher ar than the tank.. I say we hunt, kill em all and leave em to rot. No looters.....This is our chance to poit out that loot is not the issue. I am calling everyone out. Let us see what everyone in attendance, if there is any, (and I would like to see a large turn out) is willing to do. Does greed truely motivate us? Do we hunt simply to find the PhAtLeWt? Lets make this a group hunt that people will be talkin about. Come one come ALL, hunt and leave the loot lie, take the stuff you as a crafter might use, but leave the potions, the gold, the weapons, leave it! Perhaps this could be Sebastions chance to de-loot everything for us. We could amicable burry the hatchet between all and hunt for the sake of the hunt. What say you all?

A no loot naked hunt? You don't know how much I want to be there. Of course, I have no mages, so I'm out. Maybe we'll have a standard (all characters allowed) no loot hunt some day soon. The honor system is the only way to make it work, but it really shows you the moral character of the players you're hunting with. Anyone who loots on the no loot hunt should be publicly humiliated, strung up by their heels, and left to rot in a field where the ravens will feast on their rotting corpses. Does that seem harsh?

Is there a reason we are not including the warriors?

Why not include them and they too wear only a kilt and hunt with a regular - non gm sword--no shield.

Maybe im an old softie but i hate leaving players out of fun.

Id love to attend- and will do my best to remember.

Ahem...

NO LOOTING? Are you nuts Keelarr? Wait, rhetorical question--you ARE nuts.

Anyway, I have no problem letting the loot rot, but how about this as an alternative idea: we do loot but don't keep it. We find some unsuspecting newbie in the Bank afterwards and deposit it on them.

As to the warriors/tanks/fodder idea Leia brought up, that's fine with me as long as they follow the same rules as the mages.

Finally, I like the idea of clearing the Brigands first for armor and other raw materials.

Thoughts, comments, ideas?

If we are going to pick up armor why not just go armored in the first place. kinda defeats the purpose of a "naked" hunt to put stuff on now don't it?

Keelarr -- Thanks for hijacking the thread. :P

We can certainly do a "no loot", "naked" hunt later and we can do one where everyone is invited. If one of you wants to organize that, I will try to attend and help out.

This one is being organized by the newly fledged Mage council, partly with the idea of passing along techniques to newer mages. I would also like to limit the number of gung-ho, "let's go out and bash everything in sight" folks who attend this particular hunt. Loot will probably mostly go to the newer mages (as loot most often does go to the characters still in development).

As to why not come with plain armor on? Some people do not have Tailors and might raid the newby box to get a set of exceptional studded. By going to the Brigands, we all get a set of plain leather and that is really all we need (as you pointed out when you said that a group of mages could clear any dungeon). I don't want our armor to be too good anyway, since I want us to have to think and strategize as a group to avoid unnecessary deaths.

Thanks for your input, but next time why not come to one of our meetings and offer constructive ideas and criticism there? In the meantime, I prefer not to make this about some shard-wide debate on loot or whatever your agenda is. Thanks,

-Augur

No hidden agenda on looting was implied, I do appologise for "hijacking" your thread. I was just figuring on a show of hands on how anyone would feel about showing once and for all it aint the loot but the hunt. I guess it is working. :terminator: :ninja: :borg: :silly:   :right: :left: :ninja: I am not starting some flame either lol so lets not go that route. I wish you luck on the hunt.

Actually, slightly off-topic, but we should arrange a ninja hunt in honor of Drocket.

Everyone brings a katana (or our bare hands), and we could all flip out and kill things. :D

ok, just being silly - blame Keelarr's smilies

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread...

Well it was always my intention that all mages are more than welcome to participate as much or as little as they wish. The tower and ensuing quests/hunts were always intended to promote unity with the mages, so we want all mages to feel welcome.

As for the warriors I do not want us to segregate anyone from joining in the fun just because they are not a mage so all warriors should be welcome to join. What I would ask is that if you have a mage use that character, but if you only have warriors by all means bring the warrior.
