new pol95 install

Postby Bayn on Fri Sep 19, 2003 5:32 pm

I finally got around to installing Pol and the WoD scripts rather than just looking at the scripts and I am running into a problem I can't quite figure out.

in /config/servers.cfg I have:
GameServer
{
Name Local server
IP my.ip.address.here
Port 2593
}

In uo/login.cfg I have:

;Loginservers for Ultima Online
;Do not edit this file or patching will fail! Always save a backup.
;LoginServer=login.owo.com,7775
;LoginServer=login.owo.com,7775
;LoginServer=login.owo.com,7776
;LoginServer=login.owo.com,7776
LoginServer=my.ip.address.here,2593

I then run the wodclient.exe and try to login as admin/admin and I am told my credentials are invalid.

I used my own static ip and I tried 127.0.0.1, I've tried port 2593 in those two files and port 7011. Not sure why it isn't connecting.

if im not correct the wodcleint looks at the wod loging file which is wodli not login.cfg i persoanl use client 2.0.0 to log to my wod test shard .
cause drocket edited the wod client.and i also just edit my login.cfg to just my ip and delte the rest of the servers out of it cause, it wont interfer with login to wod like i said wodcleint looks at the wodli.cfg file

Ooohhhhhhh....yeah, that is right, isn't it? I shouldn't be trying to use the wodclient but the regular uo client. Ok...*tests*...I can at least get to the "Connecting..." screen now. It just hangs there but I am using the client that came with AOS, that could be the problem.

forgive me if im wrong about this .i have been up for over 38 hours working hard and am real tired .

but i dont think the aos cleint will work with pol.
i dont think pol supports aos yet cause it uses difernt packets .
also in pol.cfg there is the line
ClientEncryptionVersion=
what is that set to ?

ya here it is drocket posted this before i think you need to use uorice to remove the encryption .

POL 0.95 does fix some compatibility problems with the newest clients (For example, OSI added 3 new skills, and it tends to crash the client if its expecting 51 skills and the server only sends it info about 48.) Other than that, though, there's really no additional support in 0.95 for AOS over what 0.94 had. Basically, if you use Ignition or UORice, you can remove the encryption from the client and use the newer clients

When you modify the wodli.cfg, make sure to just comment out the WoD login line with a ";" at the start of the line. Add a new line for your own server. That way you can re-edit the file to restore your connection to WoD (commenting out your server and un-commenting the WoD server line).

If you are logging in on the same machine that you have POL running on, then use the 127.0.0.1 IP address and Port 2593 in the wodli.cfg file. Use the Wodclient.exe to login with.

If you are logging in from a different machine that is networked to the machine running POL, then you want to use the POL machine's IP address in the wodli.cfg file.

In either case, make sure the login.cfg file has been renamed to something else like login.bak or something.

Good luck!

Wow, that was easier.

I made sure servers.cfg read like this:
GameServer
{
Name Local server
IP 127.0.0.1
Port 2593
}

and I copied the loginserver line in wodli.cfg, commented and kept one copy and changed the other to point to 127.0.0.1.
then I ran POL, got the usual "Thread exception:unable to open listen port 2593" but went ahead and ran my wodclient.exe and was able to login as admin.

Now we're talking!

Thanks for all the help. Now I'll have fun, fun, fun until my daddy takes my t-bird away!

ummm...yeah, I got the jan&dean cd today. lol.

Well, so far it is working pretty smooth. I just have to uncomment/comment a line in my wodli.cfg file and I can do either.
