A quest for a young man

Looking upward watching my father cast a spell to bring down the deer for
us to eat this winter. Seeing him now moving slower then before, I watched him cast and slowly lower himself to the ground. He was only forty five years of age yet he bore the look of a sixty-year-old man. His once-tawny hair had dulled to a steely-gray. His face though partially hidden by a thick slivering beard, was careworn, weathered to the consistency of aged leather.
The blue eyes, deep-set, were crowed around by clustered creases.
Though a very tall and exceptionally strong man once age had begun to sap the from his of body. His body now pain ridden and leeched him of any pretense of youth. *thinking of him* God *looking upwards* I hope I never know the pain he carries.

Before I even became aware of the tension in his body, I felt it like a wave washing thru my mind. Where the deer stood before was a hooded man *Shapechanger* I yelled to father, yet he didn’t turn or move only chanting and cast another spell. The hooded figure laughed and pointed his staff a light so bright I couldn’t see what was going on. I fell to my back with the clash of that light against my fathers body.

I woke up who knows how long it had been , searching for my fathers body or any signs of the hooded man. I found a blood-spattered robe still ablaze with the light as if burning. I gasped breathlessly, and was caught up in the sheer lust for blood. Looking around grabbing my fathers staff laying on the ground which he never got to use. In a look of distaste and not believing I ran thru the wood yelling for the hooded man to show himself.

Not aware I was being watched, stopping in the open field I cried out ward
I will find you one day and you shall be mine. Not thinking clearly that one
cannot capture a man who shifts his shape in to that of an animal.
I built shelter out of saplings wove them together with vines. Taking stones from the ground and made a fire. Finding herbs to help light a fire until smoke rose up to fill the small opening. Striping my leather and laying aside, naked I set in front of the fire cross-legged and allowed the smoke to cloak my body. My flesh had first smelled of death now exuded sweat that formed in droplets And ran down my pale body. My breathing grew labored and husky, yet I not close my eyes. Smoke filled my eyes burned and began to water tears coursed down my face to drip against my chest. I know this is the only way to find this man father had showed me a thousand times now I was to use this power.

I sat as the herbs and wood burned away and the rocks grew cool, and waited not eating nor sleeping . Two days passed I stood and walked the forest looking for a silver wolf. Stalking and killing it with only my hands, I drained the blood from the wolf body. I smeared my body head to toe with its blood and ate the wolfs warm heart. It tasted vile but I disregared it and ate all of the heart.
Now to travel and find this hooded shapechanger I am ready and will not
forget his laugh nor the look of his face.
