My dear Gm's,
THis is mostly for you. just today as you know brit and minoc (along with others im sure) were invaded by Mr. X's guys. well in an effort to help i was out fighting as well. When i get a message from my sister (liselle) that woodey had looted her body and taken her things. I thought now...that cant be true he has been playing a while he wouldnt do such a thing. Then i learn from others that he has been looting bodies and peoples kills for a while. Now he gave my sister her things back which i am thankful to him for. even if it took everyone messaging and yelling at him and him saying no and walking away...he finally did it. but it seems he did not give everything back as he cashed peoples loot and their things in for his own profit. Now to me that is stealing and very un WoD like attidude...I know alot of people were very taken back by this action as well as me. At first i did not want to get the whole shard and you gm's involved and went to him and requested the giving back of the things. and he delibritly ignored my request and sold the loot for himself. I do not take well to theives on this shard and I do not think anyone else does either. I would like to see, whatever you feel necessary, done to Sir Woodey for this action. I realize I am a bit angry while i write this and I hope it does not offend anyone. And if it did I truely did not mean too and Im sorry.

A concerned player,
Elwen

Please use the ingame paging tool for these kind of issues. The sooner you page, the easier it is for us to resolve the issue. It's nearly impossible to have any kind of proper solution on the public boards. Thanks.

Did you page a GM, Vyktor? That is truly the only way to get these matters resolved.

so it would seem...or you could pm them i guess. I'm getting very tempted to deal with this myself. I can just kill him and loot his stuff and give it to the people he stole from. Then he can start over with nothing. Drocket...or my other highly respected GM's...please judge him with your best judgement...or I'm afraid that is exactly what i will do...

Hmm, perhaps some of us tamers can have "accidents" with our beloved dragons... "Ooops! I'm sorry! Did my dragon just breath fire at you? And I could have SWORE I changed his battle orders..."

Or, you know, a misfired paralyze, combined with about 8 people lobbing greater explodes in the "wrong" direction has a tendancy to get a point across too... :)

You surely know what the help button on your paperdoll does?
Elwen Dragonfire wrote:I can just kill him and loot his stuff and give it to the people he stole from.

ummm... no you can't. You would be pk'ing him.
The rules state "In the case of Harassment, PKing, or Theft, the offending character may be, and probably will be, deleted."
So the two of you may be deleted. One for theft and one for pk'ing.
Or you just don't pk him and use the help button instead and then a GM will handle the theft.

I just didnt know it wasnt suppost to be posted in the general boards.

That is a banning offense, Elwen. Best things to do in such cases is immediately page a gm. If you don't get a response in a reasonable amount of time, PM them here. I'd probably do both. :) As Laephis said, that is the only way to really get it resolved.

However, it doesn't hurt to post the incident here in the forum also. That alerts all of us to this anti-social, aberrant behavior and will allow us to keep an eye on the player as well.

WoD is a community, perhaps not a 'family' depending how you personally define the word 'family', but it is a community. We all have social responsibilities to the shard.

Reporting players who break the rules is important. How else will we weed out the bad eggs that slipped through the admissions process.

Reporting what happens to you in-game is important as well. Whether it is a quest or just an interesting hunt it never hurts to post it here so others can enjoy it, albeit vicariously. I imagine the Staff also likes to read about their efforts. They give their free time to us, when they create quests, or enhance playability, or solve player problems, or make sure the server remains up and running, etcetera, etcetera.

An additional benefit to posting about what happens to you in-game is that it will help bolster the 'community' mindset. We are all in it together.

thanks bayn of course you are right. We are a "family" and I will let the "parents" (gms) deal with it how they feel neccessary. Thank you everyone for helping me understand the right way to deal with things before i went and got myself banned. This was the first problem I have encountered on this shard and I learned alot from it. Thanks again everyone. I will behave more appropriate next time (god willing there wont be a next time) Love you guys! :)

Love Elwen

Just to play devil's advocate for a moment: what if, in the end, the person being posted about is innocent? I'm not specifically referring to this incident, but misunderstandings do happen. Often the challenge is a language barrier or not understanding the rules. Do we as WoDians want to point the accusatory finger, in public for all the world to see, at someone who is innocent?

Again, not referring to this specific case, but Bayn makes the point that we as a community, if informed, can then "keep an eye" out for this kind of behavior. Is that in the spirit of WoD--to not trust someone, based on a report given in the heat of the moment?

In my personal opinion, it is far better to page in game and PM here, and not put this kind of thing out there. We've all seen what can happen when people don't understand each other, or posts are taken out of context.

My 2 cents, for what it's worth...

In this specific case, it looked pretty obvious but you make a good point. I'd hate to see people posting trash here just to get others in trouble or under suspicion. However, it is tough to really know what all is going on. If someone consistently demonstrate non-WoD like behaviors, it would be helpful to post that here. If nothing else, it is made public and not swept under the rug. I dunno, six of one and half a dozen of another. :)
