Lizardman Quest and looting

Postby Tsa on Sat May 24, 2003 2:05 am

Apparently I misunderstand how we act on a quest.

Last night a Lizardman scout appeared in town and Strade and I tracked him down. We both messaged others for help and since I was the first one there I asked Tri'Becca and Aurora Stargazer to loot. At some point another player decided to loot. Coincidently enough he managed to loot the only big guy "Lizard King". Then he was a jerk about it when questioned as to why. Am I missing something or is this how we are to play?

I have already been questioned about this post. I asked this player -IN GAME- as to why he looted and his reply was. HE decided to loot since the looters couldn't do their job and missed alot.

They completed a fountain in the deepest part of their world and have made it known they will be free of those coming in search of gold.

Thanks Lyl. I was a good deal upset when I posetd and still am but I appreciate you bringing me back to why I play this game.

The lizards must be powerful alchemsts.

The fountain also seems to have special properties when you drink from it.

Awesome gathering. Many volunteers joined to finish them off. The Lizardmen were quite numerous. At one point we were crowded into a small area with like 30 of them. They would summon Walls of Stone so we couldn't escape, but we proved stronger than them. The fountain is awesome but I didn't get to see the results of using it. How do you drink from it anyway?

On another note, yes there are designated looters and normally everyone follows the set up.

AGAIN...I wish people would name the person they accuse. If you can not name them they didn't do it. This may sound harsh but how do we get someone to follow in line if we don't know who did what? Also what's to stop them from repeating it if we don't know who to say something to?

Well Keelar... My original post had named the person but my real life girlfriend...aka Leia, told me I should not name that person or Drocket would delete my post, so I edited it out. I am in agreement with you. If I screw up and am a jerk about it. Call me on it publicly. Nothing will ever change unless someone speaks out and holds those in the wrong accountable.

I don't see anything terrible about people volunteering themselves to loot, its something that I see happen all the time. If I am the one looting and someone else joins in I am glad because it makes my job easier and saves the whole group from having to wait for me. Might be polite to announce that you will be looting though.

If everyone looted it would be more complicated at the end when its time to split. But if someone thinks the looters need help who is to say they can't loot? As long as they share the loot at the end they are simply performing a service for the group. Maybe if there were aready a bunch of looters you could argue that another would not be helping.

Who cares if this person looted the king? That doesn't mean he gets to keep the King's cool sword or whatever. (why is it always swords anyway?)

We had two looters and one was a new player who was so excited to be part of the game and able to help. It was her only task and she loved it. I have no issue with volunteers but do with those just taking it upon themselves to loot and when asked about it being rude.

You can try to justify it anyway you want but I still think it's wrong.

I have never seen Drocket delete a post because someone named an individual. So, your fiend is wrong.

The King had a Quest Sword? Someone clarify this for me because it never made it to the split at the end. I didn't see the yoinking. As far as the looters, YES there are designated looters and sometimes other s loot as well. They normally turn it over to the looters. What needs to be watched for are the ones who don't turn it over.

I don't belive it bringing names to the boards. That's what starts rumors and gives bad reps to some who don't know the rules. Confronting in game is the best, in my opinion.

First thing anyone should do before even logging in is READ THE MANUAL AND RULES. I believe there is a part that asks if you have read and understand the rules to get accepted into WoD...if not it should be absolutely mandatory. By that way of thinking, if you don't know the rules you dang well better learn em or face the wrath of the entire shard. this much I feel pretty strongly about. Kinda like a thief saying well I didn't know you guys didn't allow theft on WoD. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. If you intend to engage in the battle of wits, it is best that you arm yourself. Oh and did I mention READ THE MANUAL AND RULES!!..if you are too lazy to read them trust me you will be reminded, often. The trouble you get into due to the fact that you didn't take this small bit of advice, is your own problem. Tri'Becca, don't take my rants too harshly, Gramps took my hooch away.

Well, I haven't deleted any posts because of anything like this, but I have edited a couple of posts to remove the names. In those cases, though, it was because the individuals were accused of what could have been banning-level offenses, and I kind of wanted the opportunity to talk to them and get their side of the story before things got TOO hot on the boards. Looting when you're not the looter is more of an etiquette issue than anything else, so I really don't think that it would fall under those guidelines. (Of course, looting in a group and then keeping items back WOULD be considered a form of theft, and would be something that GMs would get involved in. Just to be clear.)

And just to clarify one thing: the only special item that the king had was a note.
