From the Ashes, II

The moment you falter in will or purpose, I will be there to lay claim to your soul. I will devour your essence and extract revenge for the injustices you have delivered upon me.

The words burnt into Marius' soul like hellfire. He knew at once that the hapless shell before him was just a vessel, containing a mighty and dreadful spirit - not unlike Azinith, Marius mused. Yet here, he had dominion over this one. At least partially.

"Gizash." Marius said cooly, indicating that the twisted corpse and even darker spirit should enter his home.

Indeed you flatter me, Marius. Ever the statesman, despite your heritage. I am amused.

"Do not try my patience." Marius said, as an effortless gesture sealed the iron doors to his sanctuary. "I have only as much tolerance while you are still useful to me."

Useful? I am but a lingering echo, less than a memory. Very few would recall me now, and even less would care. Even you were not present during my mortal life.

That much was true. While Marius had heard of Gizash, he had never met him. The villian had long been slain since Marius had made his way through a shattered black moongate and arrived on this 'shard', barely retaining his power - and his sanity.

And again it seemed, he would have to rise again.

"Gizash," began Marius the Black, Lord of the Tower of Scorn, ascending the steps to the tower's rooftop, where he might survey the movements of the Vampires - his vampires - as they reaped their grisly harvest. "I will sweep away the virtue of this land, and replace it with my absolution. I will take from these people their failures and weaknesses, and replace it with one true strength."

How so? You are hardly able to stand against the combined might of 'goodly' Britannia. Why, they would raze you and your tower to the ground, just as they did to me. Are you to repeat my folly?

The usual arrogance of Gizash had been replaced with curiosity, perhaps admiration. Marius grasped with his free hand at the clasp of his cloak, keeping the sudden breeze from stirring his hood. The midnight lantern lights of Vesper twinkled like stars resting across the land, though it Marius' grey eyes looked further, much further.

They settled on the faint glow of the very Castle of Britain.

"I have a plan that cannot fail." Marius said simply.

(continued in part 3)

You obviously don't know him well enough. Someone else actually wrote this and Marius made them dissapear and stole their work. Using Word's CTRL+H (Replace) function, he replaced every instance of their name with his own.

Mwahahahahahaha!

Yes, it's true! A thousand zombie-monkeys at a thousand zombie-typewriters are writing the greatest zombie story ever known to man!

Soon, I will be rolling in the zombie-millions and own my own zombie mansion! Oh! The zombie-irony of it all!

(But seriously, Tel'Imoen; Yikes! Try to add a bit of zombie humour in your post. People might start believing you! And for the record, I write everything you read, lovely readers. I've been published a bit here and there - so if it's actually any good, that's why. I think it's my zombie good looks. )

Why are you defending the Dark One? He knows not allegiance to man, woman or child.
