If you like "home," I strongly suggest you check out The Lost Realms. Lots of former WoDers, based on WoD scripts, totally new map and custom housing.

Autoscript bans you if you try to make "signature" when registering.

So register yourself first without signature and then login and make sig and you´ll be fine.

gotten into Ack and Ehran lives again. seems i am destined to go through that embarassing dopey noob stage again. managed to get dead about two minutes after logging in and then told the person coming to rescue me that i was in a different city than i actually was.
some interesting stuff in ack so far. you can make acid cloud potions which are persistant for a short time. no idea if they do damage but the graphic is nice and the idea of grenades of any sort is nearly irresistable for me. people are also friendly. i got a marriage proposal on my second visit into the game.

I've been on Sorcerors Quest for a short bit now. Very nice, originally based on Wod Scripts, but with enough changes to make it a fantastic new adventure. Many unique challenges, especially for a new character, and it also is basically a RP shard.

A has a good lead developer and there are many other past WoD inhabitants here as well.

All past Wod Players should check this one out!

So far I've tried 3 shards. Them being Sorcerors Quest, Valhalla lost, Lost Realms.
I really like Sorcerors Quest and Lost Realms. There are many WoD players in these 2 shards. On Valhalla lost I have not seen any WoDians there, its not too bad, I like the armor and weapons. Their graphics are pretty good when you try them on. But except for a small handful of people, they are pretty much to themselves. I did die once on my first day, I strolled out of town and saw a dragon I believe may have been a Royal. So I obviously ran. That friggin thing killed me and we werent even on the same screen together. LOL
So, for right now its a tossup between Sorcerors Quest and The Lost Realms.
I've been pondering Ackadia Raw but I heard many WoDians went there and left. (reason unknown)

Herakles, I think most of the WoDians who went to Ackadia Raw and quickly left were mostly like those crazed gold miners of the Gold Rush days scampering around and chasing every rumor of a Utopian super-shard just over the next hill. Other WoDians are still there and trying it out more seriously. The concept of Ackadia is not a perfect fit for my play style, which is why I left it long ago. However, the player-base at Ackadia has become much more like that of WoD. They are VERY friendly and helpful. In addition, with Ackadia Raw, you still have a chance to be in on the "ground floor" building the nature of a new world. Character build-up is slow in Ackadia, so some patience is required. That is kind of good, because it weeds out a certain type of "flipperty-gibbit shard hopping" player. I would suggest you give it a shot.

Im not usually onwe to do this but I read some comments here regarding Heartwood paradise, and I feel we got a raw deal from alot of players. First off when WoD went down, Heartwood was a brand new shard. We have grown since then, Second off, some players didnt like Heartwood from here and thats okay. I would ask those players why they left, I know one certain got rode the hell out of dodge for being ass naked in a human town and then argued a GM to death about it, I wont mention names, but i would have wanted to know personally why players did not like the shard. We were new, we had a fresh team of staff, and alot of things still needed to be done.

Personally, I feel Heartwood is a great shard, it has problems, but then again all shards do. I would personally invite players back to Heartwood for another try if they are just not enjoying their current shard. I know alot of players went to lost realms and left for ack, I never played there but i know a few staff and players there, decent shard from what i hear.

I am shocked that people would openly shoot down a shard like it has happened here, yet i am more shocked at how quickly people judge.

Not a rant not a rave just a general statement.

So i ask you, if you came to Heartwood and left in a big wave within hours, and days of starting, go over and explain to the admin why, maybe it can be improved. This is my challange to you henna, wolfie, and anyone else that gave the place a half assed try.

WoD is/was the beginning soul for the shards that carry role play, they all strive for their vision of how a shard should be, I know Heartwood Paradise is thankful for the hard work from people such as drocket and others like mith and lara who strived for their own verion of the WoD scripts with sanctuary. I would wish you all luck in your shards.

Be well.

Too many guidelines for my taste. Let the players run it. Not really an rp'er and for as long as Ive played on WoD I saw more rp on the forums than ingame. The macroing is too restricitive also. I go to university and have 2 businesses to run which doesn't leave much time.

When WoD went down and I applied to HP, I spent ALL DAY creating a history for my character, after spending another bunch of time reading the website and finding out what sort of character I was going to create. A lot of effort, taking up most of the weekend, and it was shot down. So I spent More time editing and rewriting (that link showed the one applicant refused to recreate the history of their character and was subsequently denied entrance to the shard, and it looked like he put in a ton of effort in the application). Finally I was allowed in, after some back and forth to make them happy.

I really liked being able to switch to "cat" form. However, it didn't really give my character any real advantage, it was just "cool".

But I agree that I felt things a little too restrictive. I was always afraid I'd say the wrong thing because I wasn't allowed to talk "out of character". Maybe it wasn't that it wasn't allowed, but I felt like I'd be shunned for it. Oh I guess I could, but I'd have to put it in brackets (I think that's what it was). Another thing I felt restricted on, was that if I decided I wanted to switch skills, that I'd have to ask permission!

I also thought the towns were a bit too cramped. If you walk down a street to the N/S, you can't even see your character. It was hard to find the location where you could travel west to go down/left. I tried to find a more "open" town, and when I did (there was one) there was really nothing there besides a few houses. Maybe that's been improved on since then, it was a newer shard.

Anyway, that was my experience with HP, before realizing I should have gone back to Ack, and try out AckRaw.

Now that I am in AckRaw again (thank Ciara for helping me find out why I couldn't log in) I am jobbing up my skills, but I am a little worried about the lag issue. I didn't have the lag issue on WoD, so I don't know what my problem is. My computer is old and outdated, though. I'll give it a go, but in the future if it doesn't work out I may try out WoW. I've heard others have gone there and are happy with it.

A possible shard to investigate

Not completely done but I'm adding some of the homier WoD touches to it like clay mining, porcelain and obsidian mounts, a "grab" command so you don't have to pick everything out of chests one by one...etc.

It won't be a public shard but at the moment it is on UOGateway. Runuo 1.0.0, fully spawned with MOBs and NPCs. We are running Samurai Empires (mainly for the extra map and cool new graphics) but if you don't have it, there are ways to patch your AOS installtion.

I'm busy adding this and that in regards to scripting and graphics but we will also be adding a hundred or so quests that various NPCs in towns will kick off. In addition, 3 or 4 staff members will be running events several times a week and while Role Playing is not mandatory, it is highly suggested. :)

I'm looking to build the more adult oriented ( no d00ds) but child safe shard that WoD was.

the website just got started (been busy!!) and the domain isn't set up yet but that will point you to the forums. Just register and PM Admin Oak. Let me know you are a former WoDian and your email and name.

Just an update. The website itself is up and running...http://www.sylvandreams.com. The forum is active and although the player base is small, they are friendly. We have some ex-WoDrs there as well. Script base updates happen every 1 to 2 weeks with new systems, new custom art, graphics and items.

Every new account gets a free house/custom house foundation to start off with and you can have 2 houses per account. Skills rise pretty fast because skill building is, in my opinion, one if the lesser interests in the game. The 'donation chests' we have for newcomers always seem to be stocked, we have a generous group of players.

I am planning on keeping the shard "private", not advertising, no open registration and all that kind of thing. Word of mouth is the best way to get quality players I think. I just mention it here because so many WoD players were the best ones I have ever met in the UO world, and you all are welcome.
