Clean script release

Postby htfy on Tue Nov 11, 2003 7:31 am

Drocket is there a way for you to release a "clean base script" ?
What I mean by that is release the scripts that do not require the use of WOD modified verdata's, mul's, etc.
Just a core script with all the items that need those files, disabled.
Or at least say which items require the new files, and how to disable them in the scripts.

I just want to be able to dload the scripts, install them and rice the newest client and be ready to play. I am sure its not just me either. These new scripts are great, don't get me wrong, but I don't like having to use WOD files or renaming them to my shards name just to use the scripts. Its not hard or anything, but what I’m trying to say is that I think it would be better without that mess.

Thanks

Well, it would certainly be possible, but... Well, its probably just not going to happen. Already there's several interdependancies between scripts based on modifications to the files, and that's only going to become more and more complicated as time goes by (A simple example: I added orange trees, which is based in the farming package, but the oranges are needed for cooking recipes as well, and as SDonald reminded me, I also had to define them as food for tamed pets. That's probably 10 or so files (cfg files and scripts) that would need to be done specially for just one single item.)

I'm quite willing to make the WoD scripts publicly available, but I'm afraid I'm not just up to what would essentially turn into managing a completely seperate distribution.
