Archeological Treasure Unearthed

Postby Homer on Sat Aug 02, 2003 8:18 am

Rummaging around in my files (remind me to get a tetanus shot), I came across a document of some historical significance which has not seen the light of day for some time. It is a FAQ list for the newcomer to World of Dreams, published in early October, 1999 (the World was 2 months old). The wise guy TWOD was, of course, just another version of me, this time in the guise of a GM or Seer or something like that. As you can see from the FAQ the world was different and, well, somewhat disorganized in those days, to say the least.

QUICK DREAMWORLD WISDOM
A Newcomer’s Interview With Twod The Wise

Newc: How do I get traininig from NPCs?
Twod the wise: Consider the power of words. The people of Dreams are rigid in their communication. To find out what training is offered, you must say “vendor train.â€

I remember reading this years ago. The "drunken gods" was instantly familiar. Good stuff.

Homer, do you or anyone else remember when Seer Beckett was kind enough to post a multi-part oral history of WoD? I was wondering where I could find a copy of that. I think I used to have it but it must have gotten deleted over time. It was interesting stuff not only for those of us who were there, but for those who weren't as well.
If anyone has it, please post it (or a link to it) in this thread, or contact me in game about e-mailing it to me.

Isn't that the same history as is posted on the manual page?

The history in the manual isn't quite up to date. Part 17 came out in January, and is in this thread Quest thread.

I know what part 18 will be, but don't expect it anytime soon.
