Death and Taxes

I was hunting east of Brit today and was involved cheerfully with a couple liz mages, a gazer, a gargoyle, five or six other lizard and orc warriors and the stray rabid dog or two when everything just stopped, no movement, no sound, nothing...I thought, oh no.

Normally, when this happens, my natural bandaging ability and my usual good supply of greater heal potions allows me to "come back" still alive but with all the magic users, I felt doubtful. For good reason as it turned out to be. A fine fellow by the name of Grammaton Cleric hailed me and I gave him my whereabouts as I dashed ghostly to Britain to get ressurrected. As I came to life once again I realized it was night. Hmmm, can it get any more difficult? I tamed a horsie and rode out into the wilds, located my body and Grabbed everything I could. Unfortunately, my body had been looted and my mace was missing.

Grammaton came onto the scene with his faithful dog, Grammaton Great, a gray, hungry dragon. The two of them romped through the woods killing anything that moved (I kept out of the way!) as Grammaton searched for my mace that some critter had stolen from my dead body. Eventually, alls well that ends well. I thanked the Grammaton's effusively and went to town to face the music. WOW! I didn't realize my skill levels would drop quite that much.

Anywhere from full or fractional points to almost 2 points in some skills. I shall be VERY careful from now on. Just a warning to others who are as new as I am to the wonderful World of Dreams.

I believe each skill has a chance to get hit when you die, but only for about a point. If you noticed drops of two points, that may be the result of prior death tax hits that have added up. Good luck out there! :)
