Maybe we should forget about getting "druid scrolls" altogether and simply reduce the casting delay for both necromancy and druidism. Differentiating your necro scrolls is not only difficult but it would be too 'expensive' to use necro scrolls like you would regular scrolls. In the few years that I've been collecting necro scrolls I haven't gotten enough to last me a single hunt. Usually I'd go through 80-100+ lightning, EB, and Mana Vamp scrolls in a single hunt. I don't even have 50 kill scrolls saved up.
Another drawback of using necro and druid spells (that I absolutely detest if I may add), is you *really* cannot move at all while you're casting them (unlike regular magery spells). Any sudden movements will interrupt your casting, causing you to recast and WAIT another few seconds to try again, and hope that you don't fail the high skill check. Yes, I don't know of any magery spells that require 100 skill to succesfully
attempt to cast them. And for the high failure rate, hard-to-get regs, and long cast delay (which requires you to stand still for the duration of the attempt), you'd think Sylvan Guardian would be as powerful and useful as Plague or Liche (its necro counterparts).
Incidentally, I have to ask, what is grasping roots good for? I'm not being sarcastic here, I really don't know what they're supposed to do. The manual says "This spell summons the roots of surrounding trees to attack the target. Useful for drawing the heat off you to meditate, buff or heal." Well, to be perfectly honest, the grasping roots I cast and the ones the manual speaks of are very different. My grasping roots never (not even once) have they attacked my enemies or paralyze them or anything (seriously, the spell has
never worked the way it's supposed to for me). I'm thinking the spell must be broken because it really doesn't do any
anything.
Worse still, I've tried running away and letting the roots alone with the mobs (to make sure they were not trying to attack me instead of the monsters), but it doesn't help. My grasping roots are simply brain dead.
Is there something I'm not doing right? My Invocation, Magery, and Druid skills are all 106 or better. I know shaboolie shamans can cast grasping roots that actually do something but for some reason that spell has never worked right for me. Any ideas?
