New druid runes

Postby Bayn on Sat Apr 24, 2004 12:49 pm

Will druids who could not make the appearance of Vernon this last Friday be able to make the new runes? I would assume so but so far I haven't seen any instructions on how to accomplish this.

I recall him saying that one took Reaper heartwood and the other took Ent heartwood, he asked people to bring raw ginsing and raw garlic to the circle so it seems likely it takes one or both of those, try the normal process for making a rune with that stuff in your pack and see what happens.

I did (Saturday morning early) and it appears that the new runes were not yet (at that time) in the display of available runes to make.
Also (at the same time) the effects were not yet available in the .status display.

Sorry I missed the thing Friday. What are the runes supposed to do?

And if it’s some druid secret I have a druid Kronos Leir.

Find out what happened last night here.

Incidentally, Gaia's fury is supposed to increase your weaponskill as well (and possibly add a damage bonus besides the lightning effect, though I'm not sure about that).

The new druid runes should be craftable now (sorry, forgot to flip a switch last night :) ) Since I'm sure everyone wants to know...

Enduring Renewal
To make: an ent heartwood, raw ginseng, raw garlic and raw mandrake root
To cast: 3 garlic, 3 ginseng, 1 spidersilk
Effect: Causes all allied players and NPCs near the caster to regenerate health for a (short) period of time ('allied' means that if its cast by a player or good NPC, it affects all players and good NPCs, but if cast by an evil NPC, it only affects evil NPCs.) Range, duration and the amount healed per tick are all determined by your animallore skill. Who is affected is determined by who is in the area when the spell is cast (so you don't have to stay in the area to keep the effect, and anyone entering the area doesn't aquire the effect.)

Gaea's Fury
To make: Reaper heartwood, 10 black pearl, a star sapphire and raw nightshade
To cast: vial of blood, 2 black pearl, mandrake root, and spidersilk
Effect: Infuses the caster's druidstaff with the power of lightning. The chances to hit are increased (dependant on animallore) and successful strikes sometimes call down lightning on the struck foe.

Added to Manual on 4/25/2004. We are missing data such as skill required to craft runes, skill required to cast new spells, mana usage and power words but at least the basics are in there!

Thanks Drocket :)

a request for consideration : I know this info will soon be added to the manual webpages, and I also know that there's probably not a whole lot of druid runemaking going on at any time, but would it be possible (and worthwhile) to maybe add a 'Druid's Cookbook' as an in-game purchasable book?
I know I just had my Druid make up a couple of Runebags and fill them, and it was a bit cumbersome to have to keep switching back and forth between the game and the manual to see what 'ingredients' I needed for each rune (Yes, I know that selecting a rune from the display shows what you need - but the required regs have to be in your top level before you can make the rune). Not earth-shattering, but if it's not too much call on resources then having an ingame book available to use might be nice.
