But C did not come on the boards and say, "HEY who do you think you are disconnecting me while I'm macroing?!?"

Change is a good thing, people. New ideas are a good thing. Speaking up when you see something which is inherently wrong is a good thing.

Not all change is good and not all ideas are great. If you feel something is wrong, then by all means speak out against it. I feel macroing detracts from a player's playing experience. And despite your all your protests I have the right to believe so and speak out against it. What is truly WRONG is to make up some ridiculous consipiracy theory just because people happen to think differently that you do. Yeah, news flash Celeste, people have opinions different than yours and they have the right to state them. You cannot and WILL NOT silence us with that conspiracy garbage of yours.

She did, you did.. wonderfully done. Why is there more to it?

But I thought we all agreed to speak out about something that we believe is wrong? She was speaking out about something she believes is wrong.

Drocket and Dell, well done. Objective and mature, something which is always pleasant to read.

Where on earth have you been these past few months? You should be asking that to Celeste. She's been bringing up this conspiracy nonsense for MONTHS now and quite honestly, enough is enough. Agreeing and disagreeing with people that's one thing. Making unfair generalizations and accusing people of being manipulative and corrupted is quite another. That's a PERSONAL ATTACK.

In case you missed it, the purpose of her post wasn't to voice her opinion about macroing. Any other player would have said something to the effect "I think macroing is alright and this is why." Not Celeste, though. Instead she brings up some clearly inflammatory statement about the "mentality" of msg board posters, and how there's an oldbie conspiracy controlling the world. Give me a greak.

Of course, Celeste has the right to continue to spew any amount of garbage she desires from her mouth. I similarly reserve the right to point out WoD is a no littering zone.

But I thought we all agreed to speak out about something that we believe is wrong? She was speaking out about something she believes is wrong.

And what exactly did she speak out against, John? Did you bother to read her statements? That the evil oldbies are persecuting poor Oin? Well heck, if that was taking place I'd be speaking out against it too. Unfortunately, the TRUTH is far less dramatic than that. There's no persecution going on. Oldbies are not part of some secret conspiracy designed to take over the world, and Admins ultimately make the rules of the game, not I, not you, and most definitely not Celeste.

Yeah, news flash Joram, people have opinions different than yours and they have the right to state them.

You sound like you're not from around here, John. Or perhaps you just don't check the boards that often. Let me ask you something, could you show me just ONE instance where I have told someone to refrain from posting on these msg boards? Could you show me an instance where I've told anyone they're not permitted to disagree with me? I defend every poster's right to speak his or her mind. Why can't Celeste? Why must she continously slander us, bringing up her lies just to silence us?

The worst part is that she won't even admit it. She'd never say 'I want you to shut up because I don't like what you are saying.' No, if you disagree with her then you must be part of "the conspiracy."
Sorry Celeste, this is one oldbie that won't be quieted down no matter how many stories you concoct.

Okay maybe im the only one that sees this one little valid point here, so ill post it and get drug in as well I guess. If you Macro, its best to do it at your house right? Thats fine, but umm how do you Macro Mining at your house? Unless you have a house you can move daily to whatever spot you plan on running the Macro its a bit tough! Now granted I dont think a person should macro for hours on end unattended, but a little while shouldnt hurt to much. And I dont know who said it, but there are ALOT of people who just sit, sometimes for several hours and macro in the bank and other places in town, or atleast they appear to macro, I've messaged them without a reply, and they dont seem to take notice to their surroundings. I dont think singling out one person is fair on this matter!

This is a case in which the "victim" of our "conspired attacks" brought the topic up on his own and asked if anyone had a problem with it. Obviously several admins and players did.

Where is the love?

Postby Marius the Black on Mon Jun 07, 2004 4:42 am

This much resistance to macroing, and on Atei's thread most people were warm to the idea of useage-based skill development? Gosh, if that's the case, we may as well turn WoD into "The World of Flames".

i agree az,
in my opinion, macroing unattended is wrong. but if your sitting there at the computer, macroing simply to remove the ammount of clicking and typing. thats fine. it doesnt change anything, it only reducies the amount of typing and clicking you instill.

If macroing is frowned upon so much, it should be stated in WOD's rules that it's not allowed instead of "not encouraged" thereby not misleading people. If it's not allowed, then there's no reason for a thread such as this. Simple solution to an out of control problem.

So there is no need for me to say "yeah what that player did to you is clearly wrong, but btw, macroing is wrong too." I suppose I'm not allowed to say the latter because Celeste says I shouldn't. Just who died and made YOU queen?

I do have some spiderwebs around the tower, and I have this broom Shonia made for me last week. Do you do windows? Any gardening/yard work? Those trees need harvesting at least once a week with a trip to the market. Just what is the min wage here on WoD? How is 2000 gold an hour?
