Blasted graphic display controllers

Not a shard related tech issue but didn't know where else to post it. My Intel graphics display controller (Intel controller 82810) has finally gone kaput. It has set itself to the lowest resolution/color quality possible and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to change it. I went to the Intel website and turns out this is a commonly reported issue. The site suggested I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't seem to help. I even disabled the device, enabled it again and uninstalled the drivers, but that didn't do the trick either. I'm running out of ideas here.
I was wondering if any of you have had a similar problem in the past and might know how to fix it.
Thanks in advance.

There is a slight chance that it just went to meet it's maker.

I assume it's onboard video by the sounds of it, does your PC have an open AGP port, if so then spending some cash on a cheap AGP card would be the way to go. If it doesn't have an AGP port, then if it has an open PCI slot, you can buy a PCI card. But all of this assumes it isn't a problem with the power supply or memory.

When I had a failing power supply I had display issues, that was on a IBM with onboard video back in the day, about 2 years ago.
