This morning I received a message from Aelfwine asking me to join him on the Vesper Beach and help wipe out some sand dwellers. I arrived to find Aelf dressed in red surrounded by sand dwellers. We finished off the group. I suggested going to Maginicia to check out the beach there but alas Aelf had to log to go to work. I continued on to Maginicia beach and found more there along with a note. I continued on to Britain and found some on the little patch of beach south of Britain. I then traveled to Nuj'elm and Trinsic to explore the beachy areas around there and found nothing. I then went to the Honor Shrine to check out the little patch of beach there and found about 4 sand dwellers and 4 sand slimes which quickly became 8 sand slimes. I then went to check out the beach areas around on the island where Hyloth is located but found nothing. The note reads as follows:

We need to get some help if we are to complete our mission. We were discovered, now they are searching for us. Additional help is a need for certain.

Orion - yes they are sorta like off-color brigands, and they behave the same also (so far) - healing with bandies and potions fairly rapidly.

****** New Note Found *****
Wednesday 12/17 at about 6:30-7:00 pm east coast time.

Cathavene was out trolling for Sand Dwellers and invited me along. We finished off the beach area south of Brit, and then Cat gated us to the Shrine at Honor, where we proceeded to the beach to the west, and found a whole new spawn of Dwellers and slimeys. While trying to correct their obvious behavior dysfunctions, a note was discovered :

"We have 2 choices ...
Either withdraw until further notice or call for help and protection"

no signature.

No wonder it was empty, i killed about ~320 sand dwellers in trinsic and nujelm.
In trinsic they had somesort of trappies.
Paralyze field and explosion.

i also took out 50-75 (in Nujelm) in one sitting as they were crawling out of their hiding spots in several groups of 10 or more

* Remembers the Newbian Quest*

Don’t think a lot of people died from the traps they had but they did get annoying blowing up, walling things off and paralyzing people in a large group. It got very annoying!

From a tiny sand patch near my house (thanx again to the Runeblade family :) ) about 10 or 11 of them popped out in an attempt to ambush my poor lonesome wizardress Kaida. They learned a hard lesson thos morning: you should never suprize a master mage without a great deal of preparation and numerous bandages. Having learned magery tactics from Azzo, a pack of sandy-skinned brutes was hardly a match for her. Their pained screams drew the attention of a local guard and incited Kaida to laugh heartily at their corpses.

It looks like they're trying to make a run at our beachfront properties. Has anyone checked out Magincia island? I won't be able to patrol much today. I hope we find some clue to what's going on soon. Have fun hunting. I know I did.

*speaking as Kayn*

I cruised around Nujel'm this morn and cleared it of the sandy folk. They seemed pretty weak but then my earth elementals could pound sand all day and not break much a sweat. I was mildly excited when six or eight sand dwellers surrounded me at one point but a few earthquake spells sifted them out nicely.

Didn't find any notes or magic items of any kind, just a few potions, obsidian and sand.

I asked the sand dwellers if they wanted to go surfin'. They scowled and said they didn't know how.

I replied "Let's go surfin' now. Everybody's learnin' how. Come on a safari with me."

They scowled even uglier and attacked me with sharp pointy things. So, I buried them to the neck in the sand and had my elementals do a beach party stomp on their noggins.

After maybe an hour, I was deeply bored of pounding sand dwellers but fortunately got a hail from a "young" player who got himself lost in the wilderness. He said he had started at Covetous and went up the road from there. After asking dozens of questions and galloping from Covetous up past Fellowship Hall and over bridges and across fields and through forests, I finally found him waaaay over by the Yew/Skara Brae signpost. I suggested UOAM, that magical mapping system that we all should use, and gated him back to Britain.

I believe these Sand Dwellers have some sort of an authority. They are starting to get organized. I've encountered some Sand Dweller Soldiers, a little stronger and more armored than the latter.

I just took out at least 60-70 of them on the beaches at the Trinsic area. Amongst them were many Sand Dweller Soldiers as well as some new types, Sand Dweller Archers.
These archers highlight as red when targeted, do quite nice ranged damage and have a pretty fast attack rate on melee.

Nice to know the new info. Looks like they are going to try an invasion by looking at those numbers. It would probably be safe to say that they are mad now. 8)

Mandruu and his great, Galtor were doing a map on Thurs afternoon. They started in Britain stables and, being that the map was leading them South, Mandruu them gated to Spirituality. The map lead North from there. They stumbled up on a tent up by that sandy shoreline North of Spirituality. They decided to venture over to the shoreline to see if they could find some dwellers. Galtor hadn't had a taste of them yet and he was getting pretty anxious to see how tasty they would be, burnt to a delicate crisp.

The two of them found some particularly annoyed sand diggers ... probably, hmm.. hard to say how many. They seem to enjoy hiding and ambushing those without proper invitation. Mandruu looked back at the blood seeping into the sand, turned to Galtor "You should be pretty full of those sand blowers by now. You ate your fair share of the 60 or so we disturbed." Galtor, being the strong silent type he is, just snorted and continued to clean the dweller ramains from his teeth.

The sandy's had most of their types at their meeting. Mandruu and Galtor didn't see any archers there. "Hmfff, must've been their day off." Mandruu scowled. "Whelp Galtor, I think our work here is done." Mandruu said as he brushed the sand from Bulls Eye's mane.

With noone else to talk to, Mandruu continued to talk with Galtor, "They are nasty little buggers." He paused for a moment and his forehead wrinkled a bit, "Pretty dadgum fast and frequent healers too. Couldn't hit them with two spells before they were slinging bandages."

The three of them, Mandruu, Bulls Eye and Galtor started to head back toward the tent they had run upon earlier and Galtor stopped at the edge of the sand. "What's the matter, boy?" Mandruu askedsympathetically. Galtor looked down at his feet. "Yeah, those slimes give ya acid indigestion, don't they boy?" Mandruu quipped as he glanced at Galtors feet, where the decaying body of a sand slime lays. "Come on boy, let's finish this map and head on home. I got an extra dessert waitin' for ya."

Magincia, Nujel'M and the Shrine of Honor (or Honour) were all infested today. Kasia and I started out at Magincia (she lives there) and we were doing just fine, really, until ten to 50 of the buggers popped from what seemed a single tile.

Edison soon joined in and after handling Magincia, we headed to Nujel'M (Ed's home). They were also plentiful there, to say the least, especially near the Graveyard. On a side-note, tracking at 60 SUCKS. Using tracking, I "found" one Sand Dweller near the Graveyard, and when we got closer, we were ambushed by about 25.

Shadowstone and Draco joined us in Nujel'M, and our new, bigger group was summoned to the Shrine of Honor. Someone (can't remember the name, sorry) died there by what he called "about 50" of the Sand Dwellers. I thought he was exaggerating, until we stepped through the gate. There may not have been 50, but I'll bet good gold there were 40. We stood our ground and finally beat them back with the help of others, but I can't recall all the names (I had a bad headache by the time we got to Honor).

From the Shrine we headed to the beach near there where there had to be at least 100 of the Sand Dwellers. To everyone's credit, no one died in the ensuing melee, but it was close a few times.

Here's the thing with the Sand Dwellers: use the same tactics we used with the Branubians. Don't run ahead, don't throw purples, don't bring henchies or pets, don't chase. Let range attackers (mages and archers) kill range attackers. Go slow, because like a hive of angry hornets under the eaves out back, these guys like to hide and then swarm.
