Contest: Santa needs your help

Postby Drocket on Fri Dec 19, 2003 2:45 am

Hopefully someone who was there for the beginning of this quest will post on the Quest forum (*hint, hint*), but here's some out-of-character information on what's going on:

Snow ninjas have taken all of Santa's presents, and your help is requested. The snow ninjas are located in the snowball fight area (find it yourself :) ). Also inside the snowball fight area is an elf named Chuck. If you kill the snow ninjas, they'll (usually) drop a present, which you can then turn into Chuck. Chuck will remember how many presents you've turned in to him.

Hopefully, all of the presents will be recovered by Christmas eve. Assuming that they are, Santa will reward those who have helped him. Unfortunately, Santa isn't rich, so...

Several 'special' presents will be given out in a random drawing out of those who have helped Santa. Each present that you turn into Chuck is worth 1 entry, so the more presents you turn in, the better your odds of winning. In addition, everyone who helps will also receive *something*.

Aye, it was pretty "cool" out there in the snowy wastes. They throw a pretty mean ice star but they were no match for my Dragonfly Occludes the Sun technique.

Of course, distracting a ninja with an earth elemental so I could casually plunk 'em in the head with a snowball didn't hurt either.

I should take Bayn out there instead of Kayn (my mage) and see how a tank stands up to 'em. I saw a lotta death cries.

He's at Santa's workshop stands outside of Santa's workshop, which is on the southern edge of the arena.

Drocket, are the ninja stars supposed to kill me, or are they supposed to return me to the starting area? Because I just died :P

Yeah, a lot of people were issuing their death cries due to ninja activity last night. As Kayn, I ressed one of them when I first arrived and saw a couple other bodies as well.

It ain't just snowballs, folks.

Thanks Tel'Imoen. I will probably have someone that has been there show me to the spot anyways. I don't know the area (never explored it or attended the Reindeer Games) so I don't exactly know how to get to the southern edge. But thanks anyways! :D

I love this game! For those who are new to WoD (and based on the death cries last night I have a pretty good idea who you are), the trick is to GO SLOW! I had a partner with me and we split the presents up between us, and neither of us came close to dying. GO SLOW, don't rush ahead, take your time, use your snowballs, leave your dragons and henchies at home--kind of sounds like every other quest, eh?

Of course, those are just my suggestions. No rules, just ideas...

**Hopes this teaches people the value of going slow...**

I died like 6 times last night because I walked into a couple groups of them all in one tiny area, it wasn't pretty. But yeah when Wood and I paired up and split the presents I think each of us died only once because we got split up.

Both Kayn and Bayn just went slow. Last night there were a bunch of people but everyone was dashing around like maddened reindeer so I didn't attempt to pair up with anyone, just went slow.

As a mage, it was still tough except when I started using elemental shields. This is like Shabooli fort, except a bit tougher.

This morning as tank Bayn, it was much easier but I could see how it would have been easy to get overwhelmed regardless of the armor.

Slow and steady does it.

Well I teamed up with Ssin last night and neither of us got killed (we got close to it) but what did happen is that we both got sent back to the begging of the snowball arena enterance (which was quite a nuisance).

That happened to me this morning. I thought it was because I hit myself with a snowball, but later on, I hit myself on purpose and I just got a message that "Bayn hit you with a snowball." or something like that.
