Marius you big baby. Give me the tower if you're going to give up just because one or two people.

I don't have the drive or inspiration that you had, but I'll put up a damn library if you're going to crawl away and cry about it.

It's a good idea, someone should do it, and I'm the one that donated the dang thing, and I've got the house points for it.

I'm not entirely sure if John's 'one or two people' statement was directed at Laephis and I or not, but If it is, then to make is clear, we're NOT against the idea of a player library. We, in fact, would love to see it happen. We simply don't think that this should be a project that WoD admin should be involved in because then it becomes something different.

And Fellowship hall is a tower with some runes locked down on top. Things are what you make of them.

If the only way to attract interest and attention to your project is to have a GM give you a special fancy building and special fancy items and special fancy powers, then let me be perfectly blunt: your idea is not worth doing. If the core idea is so poor that it can only succeed when wrapped in layers of 'specialness', then its _still_ going to be a poor idea, and its _still_ going to fail.

Note that I'm not saying that the library is a poor idea. What I'm saying is that if the library is a good idea, then you CAN do it yourself, and the results will be all the more special because you DID do it yourself.

Drocket,

I'll be sure to think twice before I ask anything of the admin in the future, rest assured. If I to wear a hat, I would perhaps eat it in saying that you were right and I was wrong, but maybe it's just relief to finally have it done and over with. Time will tell. Perhaps this is all for the best. One big emotional outcry and now it's down to the meat and bones of things. The library is very, VERY close to being operational, and this is a significant stage in it's history. Whether or not it will prove fruitful to WoD, we shall see, but I would like to think so.

Fellow WoDians,

The library is in Britain. If you across the southern most bridge to East Britain, it's the second house along. It's kind of L-shaped, with a fence around a small garden. No books available yet, because I want to put them in altogether rather than in dribs and drabs.. but you'll be able to see how the design is coming. There's also room for quest items, which will be displayed, thanks to some very kind people.

Special thanks to Leia Ranar for kindly offering her house for this use. I appreciate everyone else who offered support and kindness and all the things that helped get the library after the last and biggest hurdle.

But now that it's all said and done, what is the future of Controversy and Marius the Black? I mean with the Library done, what is there to stir the kettle with?

I'll be sure to think of something.. but that's for the distant future.

Ahh . . . a legendary building for a legendary project :) Leia's house used to be owned by a dear friend of mine for many years (Faniulos), then it was purchased by another very dear friend (Leia). You could not have found a better place to start, Marius. That place sure is special :)

If we wanted to offer something up for display in the library, who would be the one to contact?... just realized the lockdown count is at 100/100. Are there special considerations with this building to allow more?

"Special considerations" and the library are kind of a touchy subject .. heh. But the building is only a 4 HV, so it can go up to 5, and have 60 more lockdowns. However, since I'm technically not the owner of the house, I can't do that. It's up to Leia Ranar to upgrade the library. Until then, I'll secure some chests and use them to display quest items. Also, you can leave things in the "Donations" box, and I will periodically cycle the items if there are more items than lockdowns, and have exhibitions... possibly on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.

This is the disadvantage of the player library: the lockdowns. Actually, its a bit of a weak spot for WoD (I mean 100 lockdowns a tower. Seriously) but it's something we have to work around, and I'm happy to do that.. at least until we get more. (please please please!)

In any case, leave things in the donations box, and I'll keep the library exciting and ensure that all contributions are shown. The last thing I want is to have "well, I'd give my quest item up, but there aren't any more lockdowns" because that's really something I can't work around more than the ideas I've suggested above.

Please continue to support the library, and don't forget to .own any quest items you donate, to make it easier if the library is ever shut down or moved. (Or you just want them back)

I am not sure exactly what all of these references are to the death of Fellowship Hall. The gang is dormant, but hardly dead (yet). Neither the folk nor the Hall are going anywhere, unless you know something I don't. The recent thread of memories over on the FH forum show me that the past is not at all forgotten. Players will leave their marks on the world, as well- but not from some great (but short-term) public outcry campaign---
Perhaps there is more legacy in the stories than in the books.

I am awestruck by the book collection. I find it fascinating and I think it should be preserved, at least. This needs to be done by an individual, however, rather than as an official act. I am able to protect the rune map and the quest museum at FH from loss and destruction, but I have not had time in recent days to properly maintain either, so I cannot consider interjecting myself into the equation. That is how such things have been accomplished in the past- individuals (or small groups sharing a dream)like Joram or Homer who had a dream and worked it through- rather than some kind of petition campaign. Also, our "admin" is not some kind of distant misty government agency. Once a person figures out EXACTLY what they want, they should just contact and ask (probably Drocket, though it depends on the request).
