I had just completed a rather large order for one of the local smiths and had headed over to the 1st National Bank of Britian to deposit my earnings, when I heard a sigh of exasperation from the good master Boone. I inquired as to the nature of is distress, and he replied that some black shrouded figure had passed through the bank a few minutes earler and for whatever reason had handed him a note, the contents of which is as follows:
The Vampire Lord, Shazaaam, has stolen a Crystal of Summoning. He will use it to create vast swarms of undead. Retrieve the Crystal from the Depths of Famine.
We both agreed that the whole thing seemed somewhat suspicious (how far can you trust somone who willingly runs around in a death shroud?), but probably should be looked into, and that if he wished to be done with the note, I would lead an expedition to Famine to see what might be up.
A good sized group was gathered consising of:
Covenant Atei
Bergen Bassett
Brayzin Revol
Darian
Martijn
Edward Tristan
Ki'Anna Stydoran
and myself
For the most part the trip was uneventful, resistance was light in both antechambers of Famine and upon hitting the main thoroughfare we headed North and then took the first right to check the coiffin room. Losses on our side were light, Brayzin and I went down in the initial rush of guards but we were quickly revived.
Shazaaam was indeed hiding out in the coffin room and taking him down posed no great difficulty, it seems most of his guards were in the hallway out front.
We did recover the crystal of summoning (now in the possession of Covenant Atei), it seems the Vampire Lord had started experimenting with it as in addition to the normal complement of vampire types there were a half dozen or so spectares in residence. Where the crystal came from or wether or not there may be more I have no clue, vampires are also notoriusly hard to put down permentaly, I for one, should not be suprised if we here from/about him in the future.
