Tragedy strikes the Atei Clan...

*Covenant Atei*
I was lounging at my home in Vesper, making mana stones, when I received a strange message from Bernard. I don't know any Bernards so I asked him who he was and he informed me, in no uncertain terms, that he was a fisherman of some repute in Occlo. After stumbling through an apology about not recognizing the name, he asked me to come to the Island to identify some items he found in one of his fishing nets.
I quickly gated over to Occlo and located Bernard near the north shore. There, tangled in one of his nets along with about a dozen or so fish, was a Codex Damnorum, a red backpack, some lock picks, a couple of fishing poles, a flute and a porcelain horse totem named Lute.
I retrieved the flute and my worst fears were realized: it was Josh's! Aellius had made it for him for his recent birthday and his owner's mark was clearly showing. Upon closer inspection, the Codex, the fishing poles, the pack and Lute all showed the same mark. The pack was full of Josh's regs, potions, bandages, rune books, food and extra equipment.
But how did they get here? Josh often left for days at a time to fish and search for treasure. In fact, he loaded up his boat, "The Gayle," just yesterday morning for an extended trip to the southern islands.
I questioned Bernard about where he had found my brother's missing items and he indicated he was net-fishing near Little Buc's island. Gathering my brother's possessions I quickly gated over to Little Buc's, but there was no sign of him, anywhere. I searched the entire island, then decided I had better search Buc's Den as well.
After wading through the inhospitable residents of that vile place, I found the shattered timbers of a ship along the eastern shore. I searched through the wreckage and discovered the name placard still intact. My heart sank as I realized it was "The Gayle," and Josh was nowhere to be found.
It took me several moments to gather myself and inform the rest of the family of my discovery. Pau, Toten, Aellius, Nia, Sholeh and I searched all of the islands, from Marble to Moonglow, from Ice all the way to Skara Brae. We found no other sign of him.
I would like to think that he will show up at some point, down the road, but I don't really hold out any hope of that. As resourceful and resilient as he was, without his boat and the rest of his gear...
I am somewhat comforted in knowing that, if he died, he did so doing what he enjoyed the most, and that was fishing.
Ah, Josh: you will be surely missed.
