Without hesitating or even looking at the wreckage in the rest of home, Amon took the steps two at a time and was quickly standing in his bedroom doorway. He saw Pau, sitting on the floor, covered in soot, hair singed, knees drawn close with his arms around them, rocking back and forth and sobbing. It was only then that Amon even noticed the rain.
